On the subject of being nice to service people...tip your postal worker if you can....
I always tip my mail carrier and give him an Xmas card. I'm fortunate in being able to do this. I know a lot of people are hurting now and can't afford to, but if you can afford to and have been pleased with your mail carrier, please consider tipping him or her a small amount just to say "thanks."

Just a holiday season suggestion. :) Happy Holidays to everyone!

3. My Dad was a rural route carrier and he delievered the mail in some hellacious,
life-threatening conditions. He was always tickled pink when people left him a nice Christmas or thank you card in acknowledgment. (And often lovely homemade goodies too, but to be honest by the time he collected them all he had a HUGE box-load and he really wasn't supposed to be eating them because of his health, so I recommend not doing that because you never know.)

:hi:

4. We used to have a nice mailman hereabouts.
In fact, most of the mail carriers I've known have been genial, friendly sorts who would wave and say hello and maybe exchange a quick word or two if they saw me working in the front yard. The current guy, though, is the grumpiest, dourest, moodiest mailman I've ever seen. He does his job fine, but is just thoroughly unpleasant while doing it. That guy gets no tip from me.

6. May I add the Newspaper person to the list?
If you still get a paper delivered, those guys deserve a tip too. Around here, it is usually guys that don't speak perfect English yet and they are always grateful.

8. used to give em some cookies, but I never see them anymore...
It's often someone different each time, so it's hard to build any level of communication.

9. I was also thinking about my kids' school bus drivers.
I mean, wow, what a job, and what a service they perform. And for very little thanks, I'm sure.

10. What a thoughtful thing to write.
My Mom and Dad would always give our postal worker a gift, oftentimes holiday treats. Thanks for the reminder of a nice tradition and another way we can thank those in our lives. Thank you for being 'you'...

YASBTM!!!
