3. HC...I had a 5-way bypass done after having at least 2 heart attacks the same day.
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 02:02 AM by old mark
That was in 2003, and I'm in better shape now than I was for a long time before I had the surgery. Took months to recover, but I know many who have had this surgery, some for 10 years longer than I have...I see a cardiologist twice a year, have a day's worth of tests every 5 years, and take meds every day, but that's it...I would have been dead for 7 years this month with out that bypass.

I guess you like the guy to wait for him, huh?

Good luck - all the best to both of you.

mark

I hope he at least bought you dinner first...

9. Good Luck and Good Vibes
If it's any help, my dad had quadruple and lived for years. He died from something totally unrelated to heart disease.

13. PLENTY of good vibes from me!! I was a near-miss for one of those
I have low blood pressure, and so when I had 2 main arteries 99% blocked, I never noticed it.
Pure dumb luck that I sought out a cardiologist on a hunch, and only by more pure dumb luck
were my blockages such that stents saved me before a bypass was needed (or a heart attack
killed me). The surgeon said he couldn't believe I got to him before I had a heart attack.
He said it was a matter of hours, a day at most, and my blockage was so severe, I might not
have survived a heart attack. My wife freaked right out when she heard. But here we are 6
years later, and I'm still kicking (I could still drop dead tomorrow, but I would have
done that already if I had spent the last 6 years worrying about it).

We came out and saw the light at the other end of the tunnel. So will you two. I'll lend you
some of my vibes if you need them. I got a few left over out my reserve!

14. More than a date, I would say.
It may just bring you two a lot closer. Sending vibes for healing for him, and peace of mind for you.

15. Is your friend paying or are you going Dutch on the bypass?
If your friend is paying, it could be a date. If you are going Dutch, not very "datey."

The only way to clarify this is to insist that your friend completely recover from the procedure, and then complete the required PT -- then ask.
