Has anyone here ever modeled?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
A friend of a friend was trying to get a portfolio together for
her Senior Art Show at my university. She asked if I'd model for
her and I did.
.
The first question out of EVERYBODY'S mouth (even MiddleFingerMomMom's)
was, "Were you, like... you know... ... ... naked?"
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
She ended up winning Best of Show (or something) and all her sketches,
paintings, lithographs were of me. I went to the opening and had to
leave and come back at a quieter time -- I was very uncomfortable
because it was obvious that I was the model and everyone was staring
at ME rather than at her work.
.
.
.
.
.
It was a very cool experience, though -- she wasn't a demanding
artist. Sat through a chimney fire in her home during one of the
sessions with the fire personnel rushing in and out -- and I played
my guitar for the majority of the work.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I know you haven't stopped wondering.
.
.
.
.
I wasn't nude.
.
.
.
.
.
Although it was FOREVER before I informed MiddleFingerMomMom of that.

1. I did in high school.
Many of us took turns modeling for our drawing class in two piece swim suits because it was high school. A small group of us were taken to the local college to draw from nude models occasionally, and once we even hired a past student who modeled at the college to come to an evening drawing class and model nude after school was out.

2. My dear MiddleFingerMom!
How very cool! Of her to ask, and of you to do!

The caption on your cartoon is perfect too...

When I took up poetry, it allowed me to see stuff inside me that I had no idea existed.

:hi:

3. Did I ever tell you about my short lived runway experience?
it involved cheap wedding gowns, cocaine snorting back stage and some very small town egos gone wild, all set to the tune of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer"

I better stop now before I start talking about myself in the third person.

4. Yes, fashion.
I was a teen model. I did a couple of small shows and worked in a fancy women's clothing store. Long time ago.

Did the artist give it to you?

9. Yes... I had dated her son for a while, and she wanted to paint me.
She paid me to sit for it, then she gave it to me
when I stopped going out with her son.

She has borrowed it for showings in the past.

She's still painting!

I was always most impressed with her combination landscape/still-life or landscape/portrait works>

16. That gallery is two houses away from my parents' place. They did a couple of shows there when I was
a kid. :)

I rented it from them for a couple of weeks
one summer.

Fond memories of a beautiful place!

11. Your first name doesn't start with "M" and you're not from smalltown Michigan originally, are you?
.
.
.
.
.
You look SO much like my best friend in H.S.'s little sister that I just
flashed back to a short, relatively innocent whirlwind romance that ended
when her mom YANKED open the door of my buddy's van to catch me and her
making out.
.
Those associated with his garage band at the time had nicknamed that mom
"Hawk-Ears", for her ability to hear the slightest whispered infraction of
"the rules" -- ANY "rules".
.
.
Thanks for the memory flash. She was really cute (as you are in that work).

12. ....from Michigan all right....
but my MIDDLE name starts with an "M", and
my mother NEVER caught me in a van.

Pleased to assist your flashback though!

8. Well, Mom gave it her all
she went to many a "go-see" in Manhattan, but never seemed to end up with a job. Pity. She's, um, remarkably well-preserved (which may explain why I've had so much trouble finding someone who meets my exacting standards!)

10. Did nude modeling for art classes in college several times.
Once it was as a federal work-study!

I also did extensive paid work for an erotic photographer when I was just out of college (honestly, it was art, not just nudie pics. He had a whole show up in a gallery my home town which was mostly naked pictures of me. I know some of the shots were made into postcards also, so probably my naked self is still floating around out there somewhere.

Now 50 lbs heavier and quite middle aged, I am very nostalgic about that time in my life. I still have two of the art pics up on my bedroom wall, actually (in a place somewhat hidden from public view).

I certainly don't regret any of the modeling I did. It was a cool experience.

14. I had a roommate in college...
.
.
.
...who got some work as a "Life Class" model at the local university --
pretty attractive... AMAZING body (made me wonder if she really got
much work -- from what I understand, artists don't like hardbodies
like photographers for cheesecake do).
.
She was a hardcore exhibitionist in general. Told me so when she moved in
and asked if I'd be offended if she walked around the apartment nude.
.
.
.
.
.
TCHA!!!!!!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
I soon found out that she was so disgusting in so many ways (her BF had
been accepted to Emery-Riddle in Florida for flight school(??) and would
be moving on soon and she had gone off birth control to try to trap him
into marriage PLUS some factors like chewing loudly with her mouth open).
.
After the first glance or so, I simply refused to enable her needs by
just ignoring her completely -- looking her straight in the eye when
conversation was necessary. I would be studying on the couch and
she would walk in nude (I DO have peripheral vision) and sit in front
of me -- eventually dropping books with a flat SLAM!! to the ground
to draw my attention.
.
I admit to some marginally sadistic giggles at her frustration.
.
.
.
SHAME, too!! I had a VERY understanding GF at the time in what was a
monogamous relationship (but with spoken and understood freedom on
both sides). I think it COULD have been the best of both worlds.
.
.
.
Didn't look like I was gonna be a successful airline pilot, so I wasn't
too worried about the "marriage trappin'"!!!

15. Yes, when I was in my teens...
I was chosen from my school to be in a fashion show at a high-end clothing store and then to appear on regional television on a program completely run by high school students. I was on-air "talent," LOL. Did some dancing on it, too. It would have been a lot more fun if I hadn't been an emotional teen-ager... ;)

17. for several years in college and after
not a bad job: it's good exercise (harder to hold still for several minutes-hours than it sounds, especially with an interesting pose), and they pay you to think about anything but sex....
