7. Kerry's certainly got the better reach. He could jab Papa silly...
And Papa would just be windmilling, connecting with air. I think Kerry would be the more clever fighter here, letting Papa play out his energy, working him down to nothing, and then striking hard with some quick combinations.

And Papa is out cold!

8. I disagree - but I liked your description
Kerry does have more of a reach, but I think Hemingway was more solidly built, and if he could get in close he'd land some powerful punches...and could out-wrestle the long, lanky, somewhat skinny Kerry - but I do think it would be close.

9. Found an interesting snippet:
Orson Welles, enlisted to record the commentary(Spanish Earth), wanted to change some of the lines which he thought sounded unduly pompous. At a viewing of the film, described by Welles in "Cahiers du Cinéma," he and Hemingway came to blows, going at each other with chairs and fists, as the armies fought it out on the screen in front of them.

The two American heavyweights were reconciled over a bottle of whiskey, and though Welles still gets the credit in some of the early prints, it is Hemingway's flat, harsh monotone that accompanies the film.

------------
Also:

Hemingway (white pants) tries his luck at bullfighting during the "amateurs" in 1925.

12. Hemingway
Kerry was Navy. While I have the utmost respect for our vets even in the navy, there is less hand to hand combat. Hemingway from what I've read had a tendency to live off the land without the comforts that Kerry had. More fight in the dog in Hemingway.
