Oven shoots woman with .357, deep frying was always healthier
SAN ANTONIO - A woman was shot in the hip Friday morning while cooking a meal after the heat of the oven discharged a .357 revolver that she didn't know was hidden inside.

Roxanne Perez, 29, was in good condition at Wilford Hall Medical Center.

An acquaintance stored the gun for safekeeping in the bottom drawer of Perez's oven about two weeks ago, then "completely forgot about it" according to a police report.

Perez, who said had no idea a gun was in the oven, said she heard several shots then felt a sharp pain in her left hip.

1. Is their no legal safety course you have to take before a gun purchase
Down there?

I mean, at least a guy to say, "Storing a gun in the oven is not a good idea."

5. In the United States? Are you kidding me?
As long as the check clears, you haven't been convicted of a felony or been found in a court of law to be legally insane, you can have a gun.

4. Jesus Christ!
She's lucky her whole kitchen didn't explode in a fireball!

I'm a little confused though, was the gun IN the oven, or in the drawer under the oven (for cookie sheets etc)? If it was IN the oven, I'd imagine she'd have seen it when she went in there....

7. true, I didn't think of that
Probably because I never preheat the oven :-)

Like I said though, if she had a gas oven, she's lucky the gun didn't turn her whole kitchen into a fireball, and "just" shot her instead!
