Yea!!!! The crappy neighbors are gone!!!
Edited on Fri Jul-09-10 01:10 PM by MrsBrady
Long story short...

For two years, two doors down...
Drunks, drugs, noise, three families, more than three or four kids included...
I can't tell u how many times we called the police. One time we had
a 15 year old girl on our door step crying when one of the men in the house
had hit her...that was not her father. Electricity and water turned off several times.
Drug deals in the street. Calls made to detectives when not 911, I never got calls back.

Some of you may recall a post about a kitty we rescued from these people
that were not feeding her and (and I believe) abusing her.

The owners were there this morning with friends to clean out the mess
and prep it for demo. The house is trashed inside and out. Is going to have
to be completely redone. They had to go through all the normal legal course
to get them evicted and the constable has already been there.

The husband/wife that own the house. Never met her until today.
Apparently she's taking over running their rental properties. Husband was a push over.
And until it was REALLY bad, she had no idea. She was in fact apologizing to some of us
this morning that were out this morning. She gave me her card to call her if we see any thing weird in the next couple of days. Hopefully they won't have this problem when they rent it again. Asked me to call if there is any more BS.

Thank God!

Feel bad for the kids that have parents like that. So sick and stupid.

16. sorry to hear that
the wife seems sincere to me about not putting up with more BS. I usually can spot BS pretty good.

So, I think things will be better now.

Luckily the tenants next door on both side of us are ok, for the most part.
Our neighborhood is about 50/50 owner/tenant occupied.

3. Good for you.....wouldn't want to be a landlord.....
some of the things landlords get stuck with...but then again, they have to take responsibility with the tenants they get.

14. I worked property management as an admin at one point..
it can be a problem when owners won't do what they need to do.
Can be as bad as bad tenants.

4. Wish they'd call our crappy neighbors and invite them to move in with them.
After 30 years of living out here in country, we have the most horrible, scary, neighbors. Can't tell who lives there, serial parade of vehicles, kids, adults, dogs gone wild. What they enjoy most of all is setting their trash on fire and sitting around it drinking beer all night with country music blaring from the radio of one of the pickups. Sheriff has helped a little, but its a fine line we walk, never knowing when they'll go off. We keep praying we can out last them, or maybe win the lottery and buy out their landlord.

9. yes...we had to be careful with these folks
my husband can fix anything, so they were always asking him for help. Believe it or not.

He stayed friendly with them so they wouldn't steel or vandalize. Several other neighbors had problems.
No proof, but we know who did those things.

I kept my distance, because I knew I wouldn't be able to be nice. Especially after the kitten issue.
I pretty much wanted to pulverize the main guy over that. And I support non violence.

10. thanks -
it's a relief.

Hubby took a job out of town - he didn't like the idea of me alone with them still around.

6. I always tell folks bugged by creepy neighbors to just hang in there
Those types are nomadic by nature. Before you know it they are gone.
Like the Bumpuses of Jean Shepherd's short stories, one day they are just gone lock stock and barrel.

11. yea.
This is true.

The landlord let it go on too long. He could have had them out waaaaaaaaaay sooner than he did.
His wife is going to handle things now...I think things will be different.

17. Congrats!
Feels good, doesn't it? A friend of mine picked up a self-help term that always annoyed me (because she used it too much), but in this case it applies: that type of situation "puts you out of your peace".

There's a rental across the sidestreet from us--last summer there was some eedjit living there who would tear up the lawn by riding his dirt bike around and around and around and around and around the house for hours (he was an adult--at least physical-age-wise--don't know about mentally), even at 2 a.m. when he got drunk. Then he disappeared, but his stuff was still there, including his giant white pickup. Mr. MG figured he was doing some jail time. Good thing was he never came back--friends came and picked up his stuff and he was gone. Now there are quiet neighbors in all the house's apartments, including a boyfriend/girlfriend there with a teen boy (hers I think) and they are getting a break on the rent by sprucing up the house. They painted it last month and are taking care of the yard. A nice change.

Now if only our immediate nextdoor neighbor would get the hell out. Unfortunately the house belongs to his mother and he's living there rent free. x(

18. one of our neighbors across the street
just got rid of his step-son...who's in his 40's...who was living with them...
and was driving him nuts.

He wasn't a neighborhood problem so much, except that he was just annoying.
He was living rent free too, per the wife.

Neighbor would come over (he's a pretty good friend) and hang out with my
husband when he was working on stuff in the garage. Just so he could have somewhere to go and let off some steam
about having to put up with his eedjit step son. He would come over an complain to my husband so that his wife
wouldn't hear it
