29. The problem for me is other than the smoke monster reveal nothing feels organic.
Instead it feels like the writers are just going down a list of unanswered questions.

Especially when you consider that Christian was already seen by Jack off the island. Yet (Un)Locke supposedly can't get off the island....

39. Anything is possible with this show.
Haven't seen him use that trick before though.

I'm just hoping there's more to Christian's character than Locke simply pretending to be him. I've always thought that in the end, it would come down to Jack to be chosen for something. Nearly every season has Jack taking the logical approach to problems and ending up wrong ("Stop pressing that button!"). Now a broken man from all the mistakes he has made, he's finally decided to give in to the island. It will be interesting to see where it takes him.

When Jack and co. finally met (UN)Locke and his group I got a heavy "The Stand" vibe.

41. Not the best ep
by not-their-best writers. Still, better than most shit on tv. I have a feeling this ep was all about moving the plot forward so the show can go deeper in the final eps in a way that will make sense. I'd almost hate to write a huge plot-moving-forward ep cause you don't get to fully explore any one scene or character for any real length. So all things considered, I think they are doing the best they can to provide us with a satisfying and entertaining end for the series. The biggest thing I took away from last night's ep is how Sun knows Locke. Hrmmm.

I'm thinking the candidate - the one who will end up taking over the island for Jacob at the end, and REALLY pissing off the MIB at the same time will be -- the John Locke from the parallel/sideways universe. I think Jack will either fix his spine, or Elouise Hawkings will show up and tell him she can save him. Probably 100% wrong, but is fun to throw out wild thoughts on how Lost is gonna play out. :)

21. We've seen that boat plenty of times. I can't believe you don't remember!
Edited on Tue Apr-20-10 09:45 PM by Bucky
Desmond sailed it to the island & got caught by Clancy Brown. Then Clancy, who trained Sayid how to torture people, tried to use the boat to get off the island, so Desmond killed him, but returned to save the world every 8 minutes or so for another 3 months until the Locke busted into the hatch. Desmond then tried to sail the boat away, only he returned to the island just as they were burying Libby, who gave Desmond the boat (it's named after her, in case you didn't notice). Then Sayid, Jin, & Sun took the boat around the island to bust Michael for shooting Libby, only the Others stole it from Sun, but only after she got in her one kill shot this whole series (she killed the wife of the Other, Pickett, who was gonna kill Sawyer until Juliet showed up and killed him first. So now it's been sitting off the island for the last three years under their possession.

I also don't think it's an accident that the finale is on the 23rd and Jack's number is 23. For some reason, considering the fact that Jack got Sun to tell him she trusts him, I feel like Sun isn't long for that world. It'd be cool, though, if she died simultaneously in both timelines.

20. No, it was unJacklike for him to get on the boat. He's all into the destiny thing now.
But he's being way way too passive. Sawyer didn't have a good plan to get on the sub. Jack should've fought to bring Clair along. But, yet, I think they were trying to do a parallel with Sawyer jumping out of the helicopter. Frankly they just have too many irons in the fire and they're trying to keep them all hot at the same time. The Jin/Sun reunion was kinda lame. That alone needed to be the focus of an entire episode.

These last few episodes are turning into a connect-the-dots game. The only thing that really got me engaged was Jack meeting Clair in the slideways time universe. I wish they'd have dragged that out a bit.

Desmond ain't dead, but I'm guessing everyone knows that already.

34. Serious bodycount. Whitmore, Ben, Smoky all dead, of course. At least half the good guys.
As usual, Desmond will live when he totally needs to die. But no, he'll get off "Scot" free. Clair, Richard, & Sayid, definitely, probably Miles, certainly Sawyer or Jack (but not both). The only totally safe from death characters are Sun, Jin, and Frank, and honestly I'm not all that sure about Frank. He's down to one weary-yet-heartfelt word-of-wisdom comment per episode for some time now.

The show's finishing kind of weak, I think. It seems to be in a rut with no one really knowing what to do or having a plan--even Sawyer's plan turned out to be pretty stupid. I'd kinda like to see Walt come back and mow them all down with a Tommy gun. I mean the writers, obviously.

Not understanding and having to think! That was LOST. Quirky to the max. It IS just a made up story, after all. It can't end perfectly because IT ISN'T TRUE. Come on people, just enjoy. They are finishing it in a way that IS scientifically possible, at least in part. I think they did a great job, what with our culture and all. Story telling is ancient and we still likes our stories.

36. Don't you dare wish my darling Desmond dead!
:P Have you no heart? Don't you want true love to conquer all? (Okay, I mean with Penny and baby Charlie...no, really. Honest. :P )

I don't think the show is finishing weak at ALL. I think they're doing great, unknotting the boondoggle of the past several years and then tying up all those loose ends. Shee-it, as a writer myself, I'm impressed. I say YOU try it and see how well you do! ;)

Damn, Bucky, are you SURE you're a fan of this show? You've been hating everything these past few weeks. If I had to get all psychoanalyzing on yer ass, I'd say you're pushing it away from yourself, emotionally, because you're upset it's ending. After all, it's easier to pull the ol' sour grapes ("I think it's stupid") than to mourn its passing when it does end.

40. I think the Sideways Flash and the Flashbacks
are related to whether Juliet died because of a bomb blast (I don't think that season ender was an explosion, my husband says yes, but I recall a few other endings where its a sudden white flash and the LOST logo comes up, plus, she was found in that other sequnce of time and she wasn't in hamburger meat pieces so I am leaning toward no bomb blast.) But soooo much to the whole sequence (which I love) that I could easily be misremembering.

So these people have two branches of time they are travelling on - the one touched by Jacob and the one without Jacob.

These two paths will somehow meet to make one again, that is why some of them are having recollections of their other life, Hurly and Libby, etc., to set the stage for that. Which of the two becomes 'real' is the question. I think one will be normal where somehow the Smoke/ManInBlack was contained or destroyed, so they carry their lives out and one is the MIB succeeding on getting off the island and sets to destroying the world.

Oh, and pretty sure Jack's wife in the Sideways is Juliet.

Got to say, there are very very few tv series that have hooked me like this one. What great acting, what a great script, what huge imagination and creativity.

46. Last night was what is called (in Lost world) a "Walking show"
I learned about this from a co-worker who knows EVERYTHING about the show

they do this near the end of every season. They have to get the characters in position for the finale

One "Walking show" was when they were on the helicopter
one was when they walked to the radio tower
one was when they walked to Orchid
etc.

44. I think we saw the beginning last night
Why did UN-Locke push Desmond in the well?
Why didn't UN-Locke just kill Desmond?

What was the first thing Desmond asked Sayid? "What did he promise you?" Who would know about that?

Why? Who? What?

Desmond is Jacob.

One of the candidates has to stay on the island to keep UN-Locke there but Jacob took over Desmond's body during the electromagnetic shock thing.
Maybe Desmond died and Jacob did was The Smoke Monster did with Locke's body

I think Desmond is Jacob---btw my wife came up with this idea.

interesting to see the writers wrap this up in four weeks.

After how many seasons? 4-5? of creating tons of questions after

50. OK, how about this?
Old Smokey/UnLocke is the same entity as Jacob.

In the ultimate mind-fuck the whole experience of the castaways is just a test to decide how they will spend the afterlife.

God manifests Himself as two opposing forces - Jacob and the Man In Black-to present the recently deceased with the free will to decide their fate.

Sure, it may be a little Taoist for mainstream, prime time TV, but what the hey?

Throughout the whole series there has been a tug-of-war between the ideas of free will and predestination. For five of our years the passengers of Oceanic flight 815 have seemed to be at the whim of outside forces.

What if the whole set up has been that our moment death is nut cutting time? Like a dream, the death experience compresses time into an *epic* story which you alone write.

You decide your allegiance in the final story, you decide your fate.
