DU favorite music artist poll
Please limit your favorites to 50 for purposes of the poll. If you don't have a large music collection, it would be best to pick fewer of course.

Here are mine, by genre. I enjoy some artists as much as these, but I tried to go by overall body of work (like has been doing great stuff for a while, has a special style, or I know the artist better:)

Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, Bobby Darin, Bing Crosby

Country/alt-country -

Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Patty Loveless, Alan Jackson, Steve Earle, Alison Krauss, Dixie Chicks, Kasey Chambers, George Strait

Pop -

The Corrs, Abba, Michelle Branch, Madonna, Elton John

4. I think Loreena is more "Celtic" than "New Age"
Just for purposes of classification....

I've never figured it out-- is it pronounced "Seltic" or "Keltic"?

5. She always struck me as a mixture
So I put her as new age. I think it's pronounced Keltic.

Althopugh I usually say "Keltic." I think the ancient people called themselves "Kelts".

10. I admit that my list can change..
just like my crush list and my other lists I do in my leisure time can, and I admit that I had ties (I also love Dido, Cindy Alexander, Cheap Trick, and Alanis for example.) But 50 is a good sample without going on and on. :-)

18. You just reminded me of CCR
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 02:29 AM by mvd
They should be in my top 50.. but it's late and I don't feel like tinkering with the list. I could also live with Tom Petty being in. The list is really more of a sample anyway. Thanks for the reminders! :hi:
