NEW FAIRFIELD -- A Danbury man who police said was writing a text message on his cell phone while driving totalled his own vehicle and damaged four others on Thursday.

Brian McCarry, 27, of Jackson Drive, lost control of his Toyota on Route 39, police said.

The accident occurred just before 11 a.m.

McCarry declined medical treatment and was charged with use of a handheld device, distracted driving and failure to keep to the right, police said.

1. I've said it before: permanent ban from driving.
Anyone dumb enough to text while driving should not be allowed to drive.

2. My good friend was killed by a texting teen
She was 40 years old, with a young child, and had everything to live for.
