See's Candies: L.A.'s finest contribution to Christmas
Founded in Los Angeles in 1921.

Went and did some Christmas shopping at a local See's outlet, and had to get some peanut brittle and fudge for us. :9

They're not available everywhere, but if you come across some, try it.

Thank you Charles and Mary See. :patriot:

2. Hands down, the best chocolate candy made in the US. Forget Godiva, or other stuff.
The best. Real ingredients, high quality. I grew up with it, have moved around the country and tried it all. Nothing compares. When their website started, my brother told me they would really be on target when they allowed you to custom pack your favorites "online" -- done.

15. Just remembered another reason why I like See's. During the late 70's,
I lived in in a state that had no See's. Friends from CA used to send me a custom packed box, with my favorite row replaced with a lid of fine pot. Heaven in a one pound box!

8. the peppermint patties are outstanding
My favorites:

brown sugar square
apricot delight
Bordeaux
Mayfair

Mmmm...all so yummy.

The ones nobody likes in my family: chocolate covered ginger, nougat, the ones with almond paste inside, and the date creams. Oh, and those ones that are half jelly, half marshmallow.

10. When I was in my late teens my boyfriend's mom worked for See's personnel department

Rather than all the delicious chocolate candy she had access to, he preferred the 'white oranges' she brought home which had gone through the zesting machine to shave off their outer skin for orange flavored candy!

I was searching the internet for Huell Howser's PBS California's Gold segment where he visited the See's factory in L.A.(Lucy and Ethel did their famous chocolate assembly line conveyor belt scene there!) It was fun, but it looks like you have to buy it or wait til they show it again.

This is interesting- I didn't know Warren Buffet bought See's Candies... the whole company, I mean.(Smart man!)

11. We go on California Brittle binges
Every few weeks or so we get 1-2 1/2lbs bags. It doesn't help that there is a See's next to our grocery store.

17. The lollypops are great for dieting (REALLY!)
They're yummy and only 80 calories, and they last for HOURS! I have a whole box of them -- cafe au lait are my fave! They really keep me from late afternoon noshing at work.
