10. Science comes from the Latin word for knowledge
If you do things intended to increase the sum of human knowledge, then you can call yourself a scientist.

Also, if your experiments involve lasers or bubbling chemicals or supercolliders, then you can say "scientist" in that real deep melodramatic TV-announcer voice... :)
