3. God's already real--we just don't understand it and so some slap a human face on it.

So I voted for ghosts. The soul or the consciousness can persist beyond the body if the anguish is deep enough--I've seen that. So it persisting on after the body dies doesn't seem so far fetched. Trust me, I've watched plenty of Scooby Doo shows.
