"Julie and Julia" is a wonderful movie! Go see it IMMEDIATELY!
It made me very happy. The movie is a delight. The Julia portion of the movie is simply terrific; the Jule portion is very good and the people appealing. If you love good food and cooking, all the better because you will be in heaven.

I can't say enough about Streep's Julia Child. Sheis more Julie Child than Julia Child, if that is possible!

We all need a little uplift right now, while things are not good for us liberals. See this movie and your heart will dance. It is so good, so well done, so well acted and directed and scenes of Paris will enchant you (altho they are probably mostly staged). But what artifice!

A beautiful thing, this movie...see it...and enjoy!

3. Yes, it's great fun!
And I echo your praise of Streep, though I think I'm more lukewarm than you about the 'Julie' parts.

The references to McCarthy were well done, and showed the extent of his power.

4. The Julie parts were weaker than the Julia parts but that was because the latter
were so much more interesting.

However, I am convinced that the film makers had to make the Julie part pretty interesting because the other part would bore younger audiences. How sad for them! It was such a grand time!

5. I still think they should have left out the "Julie" parts
I got tired of her character about 3/4 of the way through. Self-centered and whiny.

7. I love to cook and really liked the flick but...
There is no way in hell Julie could have pulled off all that cooking in that crappy little kitchen. She would have needed a fortune in cookware and the cost of the food alone would eat up most peoples entire paychecks.

Cute story but no way it happened like that.
