Cat Pee in hardwood floor
I've tried everything.

Dawn
Windex
Urine Gone!
Nature's Miracle
Bruce Hardwood cleaner

I should add I have real wood, no-wax floors. Maybe there's some lemony-scent mop thingie I can use?

Ugh.

1. Jack, I'm sure this is not the only answer, but I had a...
ceramic tile foyer on top of old finished hardwood.

The training papers for my dog were on the tile.

I decided to remodel and removed the tile.

The urine had soaked through the wood finish, and into the wood.

I had to sand it down and refinish it.

If Nature's Miracle did not work...I'm really not sure what would.

Good luck.

4. I had to replace a couple of planks
when I had the floor refinished.
In my case, it discolored the wood besides leaving an odor.

5. The simplest solution is
neuter your cat,

or get a new one...

7. Well, that only leaves alternative #2
Which I've had to exercise in the past.

Reluctantly, and with my wife's sobbing consent.

This was her cat, and she loved him.

But there was no other choice.

10. Try Stink Free.
It's the last resort for me after the other cat urine cleaners fail. Haven't tried it on a hardwood though. They have several different stain and odor products.

I especially like the single from this one, "The Bloody Cat Has Gone And Peed On Everything."

True story. And no more pee.

17. My dad's cat peed on the hardwood floor and dad had to have the wood replaced.
NOTHING gets that out. Cat urine has a horrible odor that permeates the pores of the wood forever, and the affected wood is ruined.

Sorry.

18. Yup...
It's basically replace the floor or sand it down by a 1/8"-1/4" or so at this point.

The only solution to keeping cat urine from ruining a no-wax real unfinished wood floor is to have put down a coat of clear satin or gloss finish urethane before the cat peed on the floor. Of course, then you no longer have a no-wax (because you'll need to wax it frequently.) real unfinished wood floor.

Or don't get a cat.

19. Try these products
I have three aging cats and I swear by the following products. I buy all of them from EntirelyPets.com.

F.O.N. Spray Feline Odor Neutralizer - this is a miracle. It will take out the odor from anything. I use it in my litter boxes. It should work on wood. It even takes out Tom Cat spray.

Equalizer - this is the best on carpets. Cleans the area and no smell and no stain.

K.O.E. Kennel Odor Eliminator: I use this on my tile floors and it is perfect.

Feliway - Spray this where you don't want your cats to pee. It mimics their natural phernomes (sp?) and it also worked for me. One of my girls decided to start peeing on one of the sofas, now she no longer does it.

I think you can also buy on Amazon but EntirelyPets is a little more cost effective and they send the order to you within two days. I just got through ordering a new supply.

20. A couple cheap day laborers, a power sander, and some stain.
You can lighten the stain with a number of things, but you'll never get the floor looking uniform again without sanding and restaining the whole thing. If you can find a real artist, they might be able to sand and stain just the effected area, but matching stains on a floor (including fade) is something best left to the real professionals.

Hardwoods and urine do NOT get along. I once had to sue a former tenant for about $1500 because his cats had stained the hardwood in every room in the house. The whole house was stripped and refinished (I won, he had to pay). After that, the house had a strictly enforced no-pets rule.

21. I'd try two cleaners: Odoban and some enzymatic cleaner
Odoban is sold in Home Depot. They sell it by the gallon and there are instructions on how to use it to get rid of pet odors. I use it on my hardwood floors and it works wonders. You will want to use it last.
First, you'll need an enzymatic cleaner they sell in pet stores. They contain enzymes that break up the protein found in cat pee. Follow the instructions and don't forget to use it first.

Enzymatic cleaner gets rid of the proteins found in cat pee and poo; the Odoban will get rid of the germs and odors.
