(SPOILER ALERT) Has anyone else here seen DISTRICT 9 yet?
Wow. Damn good movie. Totally intense.

Highlight the following text for the spoiler part:

How long do you think it'll be before District 10 hits the theaters at this point?

And what do you think of the dynamics involved in this movie? In me, it evoked images of apartheid, Blackwater, and even a hint of Josef Mengele.

2. If you don't mind my asking...
...what were your problems with the film?

3. The last half was nothing more than a mechwarrior videogame sequence.
In fact the whole movie felt like it was scripted by videogame designers.

Really thoughtful premise that they just threw in the garbage to pump out an incredibly ordinary sci-fi twitch shooter.

7. It was OK. Not bad, but not great either IMO
Overhyped for sure. Seemed more like the first part in a trilogy than anything else. I also saw the new Terminator movie the same day, and honestly I enjoyed the new T4 movie at the $1.50 theater better than District 9. Now Tarrantino's Inglorious Bastards opening this weekend - fuck yeah I'm there for that!

4. I really like the parallels between the witch doctors and the corporate assholes
Both of them trying to consume the hand and make it's power their own.

Says a lot about how far "civilization" has brought us.

The final action sequence was daffy and a little drawn out and I wish they hadn't set up the sequel so blatantly, but I loved how easy it was to immerse yourself in this world and I thought Wickus was a very sympathetic character.

5. I thought it was pretty good, but not that thought provoking
I just got back from seeing it, and while I thought it was a decent sci-fi/action flick, I didn't think it was all that complex or meaningful. That said, I will be going back to see what happens next.

6. I saw it this evening and really enjoyed it.

It's an easy genre to get wrong but I think they did pretty good job. I really liked the feel of this film and personally hope they don't make a sequel. I don't think it would be very original. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
