He could probably play that well the minute he sat down.
Always amazed that some of us have to work for years just to get fingers strong enough to play and others just have that technique inborn; then they just 'know' where the notes are.

even more amazing is that he can't read music. I read that he was in marching band and the band director just let him riff on the keyboard during halftime shows.

John Gielgud could play classical music but couldn't read a note.
Steve Allen was like that and so many of the great Jazzers from back in the day; they all played by ear.
Of course - I guess this could be kind of naive sounding but I'm a player too and those guys who can do that never cease to amaze me.
