What's your Axis and Allies Strategy?
When playing Germany, strike hard and strike fast. Don't waste IPCs on tech development. If you can't make significant gains against the USSR by the second turn, you are fucked.

Also, make sure you have naval units in the sea zone adjacent to Morocco to keep the US from gaining a toehold in Africa.

1. I agree, but as far as taking Russia, I'd go further and advocate a pincer attack...
hit Karelia SSR with an amphibious assault, while at the same time going overland into Caucausus, then attack from both places into Russia proper.

I'd argue that, not only must you make significant gains, you must take out Russia quickly. Turning the war into a one-front deal for Germany is the only way to win. Keep the USA out of Europe and Africa by threatening them from the East with Japan, but don't overplay Japan's hand.

Forcing the Soviets to fight a two front war makes life a little easier for Germany.

3. True, but you've really got to harass the U.S. with them.
And I don't want Japan fighting a two front war with the U.S. and Russia. Russia's weak in the east, so they're not likely to start something. And the UK's a nonentity until it builds up some transport ships in England. If you concentrate both Japan and Germany on Russia, it leaves the U.S. to build up forces freely across the ocean -- nasty thought since they're pretty much the economic powerhouse of the game.

4. Keep the us out of North Africa
Have Germany to take out Russia fast.
Use aviation assets to destroy british shipping.
Have Japan invade the US thru ALaska.Take Hawaii and use it to tie up US fleet on West Coast and protect the flank of army in Alaska.

These strategys helped me a lot when I played the boardgame version.Probably hold true for PC version also.
