What are the Television Shows you Hate the Most?
I was thinking about this question as my grandmother changed Olbermann (what she calls shit) to put on How I met your Mother. What are your top 5,10, whatever shows that you despise that are currently on TV?

1. American Idol
2. Two and a Half Men
3. How I Met Your Mother
4. John and Kate Plus Eight
5. The Hills

16. No redeeming value at all in Lost?
Seriously? Intricate story telling, excellent character development, suspense out the wazoo...no, nothing at all good about that show.

Half the people aren't stars (the girl from the Bachelor) and the other half are annoying people (Marie Osmond).

Edited on Mon Jun-01-09 09:20 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
For example: American Idol, John and Kate Plus Eight, that show about the Duggars, Ice Road Truckers, etc. Of the shows I have actually ever watched, I pretty much hate CSI Miami because David Caruso is so dreadful, NCIS because most of the characters are annoying, Friends, because I've always thought it was just stupid, and Seinfeld, which was totally overrated.

22. any of the Lifestyles of the Famous and Rich
celebrites type shows that VH1 plays along with Cribs. Talk about pushing the grotesque material world on young people! These shows can make some feel like they need to get that kind of life in order to be important or happy.

Generally most of the shows on either VH1 or MTV are crap as they have nothing to do with music anymore.

31. Let's approach this a different way:
Let me list the tv shows I LIKE. (I'll just list fairly recent ones)

Remington Steele
Frank's Place
Twin Peaks
Briscoe County, Jr.
Joan of Arcadia
Gilmore Girls
Life on Mars (Original British one)
Supernatural
Jack of all Trades

That's about it.

I didn't think anyone had ever watched that. I've tried to describe it to people, and they just look at me blankly. Wonderful show, wonderful writing, acting, casting. I knew it couldn't last, but it was cut off WAY too early.

32. Disney Channel stuff
My ten year old comes home and watches the Disney channel shows while she has a snack and they are wretched. She claims not to like it either, but she wants to watch it daily. Other than that, I don't really watch things I hate.

34. I hate most TV but some of the stuff I find most offensive:
Edited on Tue Jun-02-09 07:36 AM by MissMillie
Any show where some rock star or rapper (or even virtual nobody) tries to "find love" among a group of prospects that in no way represents real people.

The Real Housewives of whatever city

BRIDEZILLAS!!!! (as if anyone would want to watch someone have a childish meltdown over every minute detail of their wedding (as if the wedding were more important than the actual marriage--if I were the groom, I'd think hard on whether I wanted to live w/ someone like this))

Cooking shows that don't involve inventive/interesting food/flavor combinations -- meaning all the stupid cake decorating challenges (no one even uses frosting anymore).

O'Reilly/Beck/Hannity/Fox and Friends

Any show that emphasizes a couple that has no concept of birth control

Make Me a Top Supermodel

Fishing w/ Charlie Moore (I have recently discovered fishing as a means of stress relief, but this guy is a total asshole)

(I guess I have to stop at some point.... but in all honesty, I could fill the whole board up. For the most part I watch Olbermann, baseball, Jeopardy, Iron Chef, and reruns of The West Wing, Roseanne and The Golden Girls.)

36. I'd add a few categories:
Edited on Tue Jun-02-09 02:06 PM by Initech
- Any show that focuses on stupid, spoiled, rotten, whorish kids (Paris Hilton's My New BFF, My Super Sweet 16, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, The Hills)

- Reality dating shows (X guy here has to date a 32 year old professional Amsterdam prostitute!)

- Make me a *insert profession here*

- Rehab shows

- Any show that acts as an hour-long commercial for some sugar-flavored insanely high caffeine content energy drink

- NASCAR

43. Good answer. There are things that have captured my interest, so I watch them;
things that have not engaged my interest, so I don't watch them; and a far larger number of things that I've never seen or heard of.

Even the things that make me dive for the remote don't rise to the level of 'hate'...

I hate what the concept that people think musical fame can be given out as a game show prize. It explains the decline of the music industry (while they try to blame music downloaders).
