Sad day in California
While I can't say I'm entirely surprised by the Supreme Court's ruling, it disgusts me that a majority vote can amend a Constitution to deny rights to a segment of the population. I suppose it's good that they didn't invalidate the marriages that have already taken place but that seems like a small concession when you look at the larger picture.

:(

2. Most credible analysts has been predicting this decision based on CA law.
That doesn't make it any less sad. I'll be out at 5:00 on a sidewalk holding a sign AGAIN. I think this time it will say "MA+CT+ME+NH+IA > CA"

3. Here is something that made me angry
Edited on Tue May-26-09 01:16 PM by caty
about the election to overturn the right to gay marriage....

The state of Utah has stated that it cannot break up the Mormon polygamist groups, where little girls are raised to be second, third, and even fourth wives to men old enough to be their fathers and grandfathers (religious pedophilia) and teenage boys (lost boys) are kicked out of these groups because they are competition for the older men. Have you ever heard of a religion the kicked people out because of their gender? Most religions are trying increase their numbers, not decrease them.

Here's my point. The Mormon church put over 8 million dollars into the state of California to overturn gay marriage. Why didn't they put that 8 million dollars into saving those little girls and teenage boys?

Hypocrites.

Any tax paying American should be able to marry whether they are straight, gay, a different race, or a different religion.

5. I do believe that a tide has begun that cannot be stopped
And that justice will eventually come to everyone. But it's so disappointing that so many people feel the need to put up obstacles to something that should really be none of their business. Why are people so concerned with other people's relationships? Why should it matter to them? I've never understood that.

What's so threatening about love?

6. I think it all comes down to $$$$$$$
Conservatives are afraid that if they allow "same sex" marriage, that people who are not gay, but are same sex friends, will marry in order to get health care and other benefits. It's always about money.
