Poll question: Do you like movies the masses like?
Edited on Sun May-10-09 03:53 PM by charlie and algernon
Reading all the treads of this new Star Trek war, it seems that one of the arguments of the haters is that the masses all love it, as if that's a bad thing. So are there really people here who geniunely dislike movies that are popular with the public?

Edit: title messed up

1. This post seems far more worthy in GD; not sure why...
BTW: I occasionally like movies 'the masses' do.

I mean, "Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man II" are pretty good, as were the first two X-Men flicks...

But for genre pieces or taking works created by others, I prefer it when the new people respect the old people and not camp it up. NuTrek's first outing is a joke, pure and simple.

2. Sure. And I don't like some movies the masses like too.
I like what I like. I don't really care if other people don't.

3. I wouldn't mind if it was popular...but it just never works out that way.
Guess I'm just an oddball.

4. Sometimes yes sometimes no.
However it seems to me. I almost never agree with critical reviews which is what I pay some attention to

5. Sure, but I will not be seeing Star Trek. Just not my thing.

6. Apparently not.
Just saw the numbers for this weekend, and I can't think of a single one of those movies I'd go see for free.

Star Trek? Bleh. Any of the LOTR/Pirates/Potter series? Not without a gun to my head.

I also can't honestly remember the last time I went to a movie theater.
