1. Dood

this is why you need to add a computer to your system and rip all your CDs to it in a lossless format.

All my music is on a 1tb external raid, plugged into a Mac Pro, that then sends music via USB to a DAC (digital to analog converter) then to my pre-amp. It sounds BETTER than some very expensive CD players I have put it up against.

I use iTunes to play any CD I want, digitally with no loss of sound quality.

4. Get an external Drive for it

Firewire if you can.

uncompressed music takes up a LOT of space.

If you try it and have any questions, I have been there, done that with this, and can answer damn near any question you may have.

For example, here is the CD I am listening to now, notice it takes up 646MBs of space.

Two of these CDs would be over 1 gig.

and some records recorded to Digital format.

I will either need to expand to 2TB drives, or figure out how to expand the library across multiple drives.

13. I will check it out
All my music, except the few I have purchased through iTunes are uncompressed AIFF files with full quality. Some are more than the 16bit/44.1khz of a standard cd even.
