Thinking about an old friend tonight.
Edited on Sun Mar-29-09 10:44 PM by lightningandsnow
When I was in grade 9, I joined a Jewish youth group. It was a really nice group of kids, and I made friends quickly. One of the people I befriended was a good-hearted, quirky girl named Kade. She had a great, sarcastic sense of humor, and we bonded quickly.

The next year, she changed a lot. Her personality changed completely - she went from being easygoing, funny, and personable to being confrontational, mean, and destructive. People said she had a drug problem - I didn't know what was going on, exactly, but that would explain the change in personality. She had a huge fight with one of the girls in the group, and soon after that, left.

I didn't hear from her since then. She seemed like a troubled kid - the mood swings, the fact that she had changed her name (she said she didn't like to talk about it), the fact that she never talked about her home life. But, despite all the havoc she wreaked in grade 10, she was a good person at heart. You know how, with some people, you can just tell? I could.

Nobody I know has kept in contact with her. I tried searching for her online, but all that came up was a MySpace that hadn't been checked in months, and a Facebook account with three friends. There was also a Hi5 page that she hadn't seemed to have been on in two years. She would be in grade 12 now.

I have no idea where she is or what happened to her, but I hope she's happy and at peace. I wish I could have done something more for her. I wonder if she'd even remember me.

1. That' cool
to me, in a weird way.

I think of those people I've bumped into through the day as they pass through my thoughts.

I just hope they've not remembered me, usually.

:hi:

2. I think she would probably be happy to know you are thinking of her
There's no telling what the personality change could have been due to. Drug abuse, mental illness, physical abuse, verbal abuse, loss of a loved one, anything that could cause a lot of stress.
