I've looked all over. I have a new color cartridge, but I want to make sure that's the problem. There has to be a way to check ink levels.

I could just put in a new color cartidge. But if I don't get a color picture, I'll be homicidal. x(

1. Check ink levels on a printer ...
If your printer produces blurry, faint, or incomplete copies, it might be low on ink. There is no universal method in Windows to check ink levels because it varies by printer. To find out how to check your printer's ink level, refer to the information that came with the printer.

If you suspect a printer is low on ink, it's a good idea to print a test page before you try to print something else. If you can't print black or other colors (or if you can't print at all), the printer might be out of ink, you might need to clean it, or it might have a hardware or driver problem. For more help, check the information that came with the printer or go to the printer manufacturer's website.

2. Are you using the software as supplied by your printer manufacturer?
If you use their set up disk then it should allow you to check ink levels as they supply the software to do this. I'm not sure about Vista but with XP - you use a generic Microsoft driver and you don't always get ink level checking capabilities. My Canon can go either way: the generic XP drivers don't have ink monitoring levels but the Canon supplied ones do.

3. I decided to just change the ink.
But I've torn the think apart and can't find the ink cartidges! I had to call my ex. Ugh.
