They need to rename MLB 2009 The Show to "Stuck in minor league hell"

They've made it so realistic that it's nearly impossible to get out of the minor leagues. Every 5 or 6 series, they give you a new set of training goals, either working on hitting or fielding. Only this time, your ranking DECREASES if you're not working on a specific set. So it's a catch-22, while you're frantically working to improve your fielding, your hitting suffers, and vise versa. the result being, you can never get enough training to get you out of the minor leagues. Took me a year to get out of AA, then rode AAA for two years. Then they sent me BACK to AA despite me completing ALL their goals for AAA. So i said fuck that and retired, lol.

I've got a good buddy that was drafted by the Yanks in the early 90's and bounced around AAA for a while. I love to listen to his tales from the show.

5. it's both

you can play it as any other sports game as your favorite team. But their thing is the Road to The Show feature. you create a player that starts in the minors and works his way to the majors. I never expected they would actually make you spend 5 or 6 season bouncing around the minors before you actually got to "The Show."

Second time, the one I right about in the OP, I skipped the draft and chose the Angels since they had the worst first baseman. Guess that still doesn't mean you won't be banished to the minors for a bunch of years.
