Who do you hate? What act is it that you shudder and say to yourself ---- "Who the fuck told that idiot he is funny?" I know I will leave some of them out - But here ya go...

1. Geeze, the only one I even know is Gallagher!

My favorite line he used was...

"Will you look at this guy out here? Just look at him. He's got a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. If he had another hand he'd need another drug!"

The guy held up a joint, on camera.

Without missing a beat, "Now what did your mother tell you? If you can't bring enough for everyone, don't get it out!"

He used this to launch into his routine about "what would it be like to have a third arm".

Dear God, Pablo Francisco!

He's on the morning radio show I listen to every so often, and every time he comes on I'm never ceased to be amazed at how unfunny he is. His act consists of about 5 different "voices" he does impressions of, but the problem is, he has no follow-through. He'll do a Don Lafontaine impressionation, but he'll just wander off into gibberish before he'll actually do a punchline.

37. He was misunderstood.

His routine was meant to mock the character he was playing, but people took him at face value.

Kinnison was way worse. He was as sexist as the character Clay was pretending to be, and his persona was more annoying. He went from neutral to screaming with no buildup, and thought that was funny. Way worse than Clay. And his jokes always sounded bitter, like someone trying to be funny when they really wanted to rant angrily about something.

35. It's between Cook and Mencia. The others are funny at times, or at least try to be.

Mencia is just a racist ass, and Cook is just a good marketer with terrible delivery. At least Mencia tries to be funny, so I'd go with Cook. Cook is like the elevator jazz musician of the comedy world--he doesn't seem to understand what he's supposed to be doing.

Gallagher was funny at first, he just wore it thin. He was a toned-down Carlin without the edge. I remember laughing at some of his early stuff. He had one joke about how dumb school was. "They teach you I before E except after C. I before E except after C. No wonder Einstein failed third grade!"

Andrew Dice Clay was hilarious, but he got bad PR that killed him. His routine was good if you understood that he was mocking chauvinistic jerks instead of mocking the people his jokes were about. What I never understood was why people liked Sam Kinnison--his jokes were more sexist than Clay's, his target was actually the women he joked about instead of chauvinists, he didn't even realize he was chauvinist, and he was louder and more obnoxious without any redeeming virtues. Highly overrated. (I was still sad that he died, but I never liked him much).

In fact, if you had Kinnison on that poll, he'd get my vote.

Most of the rest of those were just small-timers who got popular for a short time. They weren't really horrible, they just weren't as good as their popularity made them. I blame the lousy state of comedy for this--there were more venues than talents.
