The poem I read tonight at the open mic...
"Farmer’s Market-Christmas Day"

The cold wind snaps
Bits of popcorn stick
To the street
Stray papers flap
Against the lamp post
In the cold breeze
Even the sun chills

Shuttered stores
Nobody’s here
Empty street

No fresh produce
No exotic clothes
Shiny or fancy
No flowers in buckets
No BBQ stalls
No kids running, shouting, playing, crying

Just memories
Now
I am alone
The cold wind snaps

2. My dear Bicoastal...
I can't tell...

Maybe you didn't like it?

Too many snaps?

3. I liked it....
That's what you do at poetry readings instead of clapping.

(I guess.)

4. Oh yes, I'd forgotten that!
And here I was thinking you were talking about my use of the word...

Thanks, sweetie!

5. My dear CP
The first and last line bother me, but I like what's in between.

Keep up the good work.

6. My dear Lionel Mandrake...
OK...fair enough!

I wanted to convey the harshness and the loneliness of the day...

And this seemed to be the best way (for me anyhow) to convey that.

Still, I appreciate your comments.

And thank you!

:hi:

7. I like it Peg, from beginning to end...
...it emotes a time, space, and feeling. Don't change a thing.

8. My dear Robeson...
Not to worry...

This one's done.

I've heard about poets who have revised endlessly, until they no longer remember just what the point was, so long after.

I'm not that way, not at all...

I wanted to evoke a feeling here...Looks like I succeeded...

Thank you, sweetie...

10. My dear bluesbassman!
I'm glad you like it...and feel the cold, lol!

I had actually gone to the street where my farmer's market is held, on that day, and it was lonely, cold and deserted...

I wanted to convey those feelings in this poem...

Thank you, sweetie!

11. As is your wont ...
... you capture moments in time, and cause their remembrance to strike a chord in everyone's heart - on so many levels, and in so many ways.
