The single most astonishing guitar-playing I've ever seen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8

Wait until you see what he does about two minutes into the video.

(Later in the video, he does try some unfortunate key changing, but God damn, I played the guitar for about thirty years before I couldn't do it any more, and I'd NEVER have been able to do what that kid does, even in my DREAMS. Not even close. Not by a damn MILE. Not that I ever claimed to be any kind of a good guitar player, but just DAMN.)

Enjoy.

10. Charo was a competent and underestimated guitarist
Narciso Yepes also does a wonderful rendition of Requerdos de la Alhambra:

But Sabicas was, and still remains, the master of Flamenco:

14. Charo, indeed. I know she studied under the immortal Segovia. There's another woman who
has managed to hide her considerable instrumental talent under a flamboyant persona: Dolly Parton.

In addition to having one of the most pure voices I've ever heard, she may be the single most underrated songwriter there's EVER been (have a close listen to "Coat of Many Colors," for example), but she can also PLAY some instruments (both buitar ant banjo), even with those fingernails. Or, should I say, especially diespite those fingernails.

She and Charo are two of the most underrated female musicians ever.

And, as a former Flamenco guitarist, I cannot but second your recommendation of Sabicas. (I have an ancient picture of me captured in mid-Rasguedo around here somewhere, and will scan and post it sometime. I call that picture "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Maniac.")

Have you not watched Satriani, Vai, Petrucci, Gilbert, Johnson, Malmsteen( yes, Malmsteen),Buckethead etc. etc. etc?

The next generation of guitarists are going to be special, because they will be standing on the aforementioned players shoulders.

Here is a young player to watch out for, (playing one of Buckethead's songs, I'm not a fan, but it's crazy playing!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3kagoEh3lI
multi-fingered multi-string tapping.

Here is FunTwo playing that Canon Rock composition with Satch backing him up (starts at 1:55) and he screws up a bit. Not so easy live and in front of people. A good effort for a non-pro.

17. I don't think those are his key changes - if memory serves, this is a Satriani or Malmsteen

song that he's playing.

And if not one of those two, I know for sure that some modern whiz-bang technically brilliant shredder kinda guitarist composed this version.

And yes, the kid is frakking amazing. At least from a technical standpoint; but he also feels, to me, that he's gone beyond the technical and also captured some of the emotion and feel of the piece, which is tough to do in a shredder style like this.
