What's your favorite Stevie Wonder song?

For me, it's 1977's "Sir Duke." I loved it then and I love it now!

6. I think it's called "I Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer"
both sung by Stevie and Joan Baez.

Fingertips, what can I say? You could see what a musical genius he was going to be.

8. You are correct!

It's from 1971 and came out as the B-side of Stevie's excellent cover of "We Can Work it Out."

14. As
As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early may
Just as hate knows love's the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I'll be loving you always

As now can't reveal the mistery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all is born is new
Do you know what I say is true
That I'll be loving you always

15. First that comes to mind..
TOO HIGH, from 'Innervisions', probably his best album. Duelling overdubbed harmonicas, brilliant melodic changes...but there are too many to pick just one. CREEPING, GOLDEN LADY, AS, HIGHER GROUND, HAPPIER THAN THE MORNING SUN..or how about the older stuff like SIGNED,SEALED,DELIVERED or MY CHERIE AMOUR. Or how about the great tunes he wrote for other people, like (AFTER YOU PUT BACK THE PIECES) I'LL STILL HAVE A BROKEN HEART (for Smokey & Miracles) or TIL YOU COME BACK TO ME by Aretha or all the songs he wrote for his then wife Syreeta Wright....which sorta begs the question..How in hell does such genius burn out like that?

18. A tough question
I am really dating myself DU'ers....I remember when Stevie Wonder first appeared on the airwaves. I was barely in kindergarten that summer, when my uncle had just bought the first album . We spent the summer glued to the record player. And still impressed with him now.

I think my all time favorite would be the tunes from "Songs in the Key of Life"...It is tough to come up with only one favorite tune.

19. "As" from Songs in the Key of Life...
As around the sun the earth knows she's revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May
Just as hate knows love's the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I'll be loving you always

As now can't reveal the mystery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just all is born is new
Do know what I say is true
That I'll be loving you always

Chorus:
Until the rainbos burns the stars out of the sky
ALWAYS
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
ALWAYS
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea
ALWAYS
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream

Did you know that true love asks for nothing
Her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day

Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always

As today I know I'm living by tomorrow
Could make me the past but that I mustn't fear
For I'll know deep in my mind
The love of me I've left behind
Cause I'lll be loving you always

Chorus:
Until the day is night and night becomes the day
ALWAYS
Until the trees and sea just up and fly away
ALWAYS
Until the day that is the day that are no more
DID YOU KNOW YOU'RE LOVED BY SOMEBODY? ALWAYS
Until the day the earth starts turning right to left
I'LL BE LOVING YOU FOREVER - ALWAYS
Until the earth just for the sun denies itself
I'LL BE LOVING YOU FOREVER - ALWAYS
Until dear Mother Nature says her work is through
ALWAYS
Until the day that you are me and I am you
AL.......WA...........AA........AA.........
Until the rainbow burnsthe stars out of the sky
.......AA.............AA................AA
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
.......AA..............AA............AA
ALWAYS
(growling part at the end)
We all know sometimes lifes hates and troubles
Can make you wish you born in another time and space
But you can bet your times that twice its double
That God knew exactly where he wanted you to be plazed
So make sure when you say you're in it but not of it
You're not helping to make this earth a place sometimes called hell
Change your words into truths and then change that truth into love
And maybe our children grandchildren
And their great-great grandchildren will tell

Chorus:
I'll be loving you
Until the rainbow burns the stars out of the sky
Loving you
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
Loving you
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea
Loving you
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream
Loving you
Until the day is night and night becomes the day
Loving you
Until the trees and seas up, up and fly away
Loving you
Until the day that 8X8X88 is 4
Loving you
Until the day that is the day that are no more
chorus continues........

23. Did you know that listening to "Sir Duke" can make you weaker?
I love the song but I remember when it was popular some eggheads did a study that found that it and other songs with a particular rhythm actually made listeners physically weaker while it was playing.
I say it's worth it.

27. Every time I see this damn topic, Sir Duke pops into my head
Unfortunately, I loved it then too, and played it to death before it got onto the radio. Then of course, the radio did exactly the same thing, so, love it though I do, I still can barely listen to "Sir Duke" even all these years later. (Think "Hotel California".) Thus, my favorite is "I Was Made To Love Her" from before my radio listening days.

28. I think "Sir Duke" was the first Stevie song I ever heard
Loved it and still do. I like Stevie's hippie period ("Innervisions" and "Talking Book") moreso than his newer stuff, but every so often he'll pull another gem out, like "Overjoyed" or the "Jungle Fever" soundtrack.
