Six young women in Iran are living in a six bedroom house. One of the six is officially renting the whole house from the owner and the other residents have agreements with her. When one woman moves to another country, there are five women and one empty bedroom in the house.
Four of the remaining residents (including the official renter) agree upon a variety of possible housemates, but one picky housemate keeps vetoing the choices. Eventually, the four agree that the picky housemate has to pay for both her room and the empty room until a suitable housemate is found.
Soon the picky roommate runs into financial trouble and she must find a roommate quickly. She picks a man and the other four women accept the choice.
However, the owner visits periodically and threatens to create a scandal because he thinks that the man has five common-law wives, and Islam permits a maximum of four wives. Actually, there's no sex happening, but the man is concerned about the possibility of scandal, so he pretends to be gay. Then he is executed.
