I have a question about AOL mail
A friend of mine just asked me if a person sends an email to someone who has you blocked, will the sender get a message back saying the email didn't go through?

If it makes any difference, the sender had cox, and the sendee (the supposed blocker) has AOL.

She and I are going to test it as soon as she gets home tonight. She has AOL and is going to block me so we can see if I get a message back.

But in the meantime I thought I would ask the computer experts in the Lounge.

2. I can't speak for AOL mail, but...
if I have anyone blocked on my email, their emails go into the ether, never to be read by me ever.

The only way around that is a new email address.

Mark.

3. Nobody was trying to get around her block.
This issue is that this gal is pretending she did not see some messages from another sender because she said she has the person blocked.

We think she did actually get the messages and is lying about it now. She did some bad things that she doesn't want to face, and this is causing some major hurt feelings to her best friend.

Have not heard back from my friend yet, but I told her I would help her test it. She's going to block me from her AOL account so I can send her a message and see if I get anything back. If I do, it means her friend is lying to her, (again).

5. Ah, I love a good soap opera!
But if the person said she didn't get the email, and you want to 'prove' she did, how do you know for sure?

My work computers usually had such a strong spam-catcher if my buddies went into the trash I never even got to see it. Also, on rare occasions but more than twice I have received emails that came three or four days after they were sent. Very rare, but it does happen that email is not foolproof.

Your own email program might have a receipt thing that will tell you when they opened it, but they may be able to block receipts from going out from their end if they feel so inclined.

I'd say there's no way for sure to know.

6. We figured it out. And somebody is "hurtin' for certain right now".
They can settle it for themselves. It's off my radar now.
