My remote control escaped thru a wormhole into another dimension.
I had the damn thing a couple hours ago. I've been turning my 120-square foot dorm room upside down in the past hour looking for it. Now I've arranged my living space back into a semi-tidy state, and I still can't find the damn thing...

Well, that is the damndest thing...

2. If you have a cat
it's under the couch.

If you don't, it's in the refrigerator.

8. Not in my fridge, not in my drawer, not on any shelf.
It's not in my closet, not in my microwave, not caught under the sheets in my bed, not under my bed, not in my grocery bag of assorted stuff...

Sounds like a childrens book.

3. Be careful in that wormhole!
The remote control is probably right next to the Weapons of Mass Destruction. You don't want to mess with those.

You can always replace your remote.

7. Back in the old days.....
we used to GET UP to change the channel !!! That's right, we had to walk over to the television to choose from one of the other 6 channels. That was back when dinosaurs walked the earth, 25 years ago !!!

9. I thought you had three channels???
When my mom was a kid, there were two channels in her town, CBS and NBC. When my father was growing up in Turkey, there rerally wasn't any TV. It was all radio.

Nowadays, their place has 150 channels on DirecTV, and I'm stuck with 55 channel basic cable at my dorm.

I get to go back in two weeks.

11. LMAO
well, we had 7 , but at least 3 of them were all snowy !!! The f***** up thing was, cable was available, but the politicians in New York City couldn't decide who was going to steal all the money, so they fought over it for YEARS !!!
------------------------------------------
PS: 55 channels, and I'll bet there is nothing on !!!

12. My dad had a remote control in 1970!
"Jack, put it on Channel 8."

trudge trudge grumble grumble ka-thunk ka-thunk ka-thunk

Damn cat always slept on top of the primitive radiation-spewing TV. Why couldn't we teach him to change the channel?

14. LOL
"Jack, put it on Channel 8"
..................................
"And while you're at it, twist the antennae, and squeeze the aluminum foil"

Remember the "magical" lump of foil that was supposed to improve reception ?

16. Not only that, but the tuner would wear out after a while
Instead of the dial clicking neatly from channel to channel, it would get sort of loose and wobbly, and every time you changed the channel, you would have to fiddle with the fine tuning (which, for you children, was a separate ring surrounging the tuner knob) to get it in focus again. When the tuner was really bad, it could go out of focus just from someone walking across the floor.

Life was exciting in those days.

I also remember back in the 70's having a tv set with tubes in it, and whenever the picture started getting fuzzy, we'd open up the back and take all the tubes out and carry them down to our local tube store to test them in their tester and see which one was going bad.

And before *that*, I remember being a little girl and my daddy spending every weekend either up on the roof fiddling with the antenna or behind the set trying to get the test pattern perfectly circular, and looking in a mirror balanced on a kitchen chair in front of the set to see how he was doing.

So life was even more exciting in the 50's. On the other hand, we still got real mail in those days (picture postcards from my grandparents! from Florida! with Spanish moss!), so it did have its compensations.

21. That shaky tuner knob...
was how I discovered the ViseGrip !!!! We had one permanently locked on the tuner knob, that way the piece o crap lasted a few more years !! Here's a familiar scream from those days: "Joe, did you take the good TV vise grip ?????"

15. It's probably hiding inside an empty video tape box
At least, that's where mine was the last time I had to buy a new one.

On the other hand, if you're a college student, you probably only play DVD's. If that's the case, just ignore this post . . .
