This dude looks photoshopped, but apparently that's really him

"In this undated photo released by Cenegenics Medical Institute on Oct. 8, 2008, is Dr. Jeffry Life when he was 67, after being on the Cenegenics program for about two years. Life, the chief medical officer at Cenegenics, will be 70 this Christmas day.

1. He was a Body For Life winner, I believe.
Quite the transformation. Almost to the point that I think folks question if the good doctor got a little loose with the 'script pad.

8. Bill Philipps, owner of EAS wrote an EXCELLENT book
called "Body For Life" and had a challenge sponsored by his company. It was the first of the "transformation challenge" ad schemes. But this one worked. People sent in a "before" pic and an "after" pic, and spread out over several categories, winners were chosen by himself and his staff.

Even today, I'd highly recommend that book as a fitness "starter".

26. LOVE Body for Life. Easiest workout I've ever done.
You are in and out of the gym in under 50 min for a full round of weight training and under 30 for your cardio; with one free day a week to eat and do whatever. I did the program without doing my diet exactly by the book, and saw results within two weeks. Recommended highly!

33. I've got the book.
I bought it a few years ago.

I trust your judgement. I'll read it again. I'm very serious about incorporating it into a fitness starter. I've been away from the gym for a LONG time and I've let my eating habits go straight to hell.

Thanks.

10. It's a 12-week program, if I recall.
Went through it myself, and the results were very noticeable to anyone around me even after six.

17. They stuck as long as my self-disciplime allowed them to.
I still have the extra muscle, although I no longer have the definition I had once the program was complete. Then again, I'm 45 and do most of my cooking with a microwave, so...

That's the way it is with any program, not just this one. As long as you keep up certain habits, the results stick. If you slip a little, as I did, you won't look as ripped as you did just as you finish your program of choice.

19. The idea of "Body For Life" is to learn how to properly mix nutrition
and strength training/cardio to lose weight and gain muscle. It trains you proper thinking and acting to achieve a physical result and maintain it. It's a forever thing. It really helped me as I was just getting back into the fitness game. I got my trainer's certs shortly thereafter. I teach a highly modified version of what he teaches in that book, but it's a great starter book.

22. Yep.
Unfortunately, I failed to get an exemption from the laws of physics and biology. :(

At least I kept the muscle I added with the program. I really don't have the self-discipline to stay as cut as I was, though.

27. Well, it started that way. Now it's a testament to hormone manipulation
via mad amounts of hCG coupled with HGH, I think. I read about Cenegenics a little bit a couple years ago. He's genetically superior (for this) and that helps quite a bit.

28. What are your thoughts on HGH, by the way?
My kneejerk is "ooh, bad," but I'm honestly not that sure. Given some of the anti-aging research being done, I'm thinking (based on EXTREMELY limited knowledge) that it's not such a bad thing after all.

31. Depends on the person.
For example, hgh is fantastic is some specific uses, such as in AIDS therapy. It greatly reduces muscle wasting, and the downside is probably well worth the risk. Additionally, in elderly patients, it's had limited success. To me, the success is very valid. It's very good for increasing muscle mass in aging/elderly folks. Having muscle to protect the body as one ages seems very beneficial to me. As an honest-to-goodness anti-aging therapy, it, like most things is good in limited moderation. Thing is, you need to have a good clinic/doctor and not just another steroid storefront, because they'll screw you up. Be ready to spend some money while the data is still pretty new.

I also don't really have a problem with it as a trace supplement for bodybuilders and athletes. Problem is, with all things performance related, "a little used to do it, but a little got more and more". HGH, like anabolic steroids, aren't really "bad for you" (in small and cycle limited amounts) for the average guy that does them but doesn't NEED them UNLESS there's another underlying problem (kidney or liver issues, etc). I'd never touch them, because I'm not into putting that shit into my body. It's easy enough to manipulate your own testosterone levels without dope. Although to be honest, I can say that since nobody is waving a $50 million MLB contract in my face.

Bottom line is, if I had an uncle or or father in law that was getting older and looked like he could benefit from a proper hgh therapy regimen, I'd have a talk with them about it. If they wanted to go to a clinic to look into it, I'd go with them to each appt and I'd monitor their treatment myself. It's too easy to do too much because instant results are far too tempting.

There's a lot of balance with HGH therapy. It takes a proper clinic to monitor that. A good, honest clinic will successfully do that, and any downside will likely be unfounded.

In a nutshell, and as if explaining it to a seven year old.

40. For starters, you have to know your body.
There are times of the day, methods of eating and exercising that all help raise levels of free testosterone in the body. It's not an increase like you'd get taking juice, but it can be done. There are also a couple herbal supplements that actually can help in this respect. That's not really like explaining it to a seven year old, but it's a pretty heavy explanation that to type would make a fine thesis.
