Springsteen Used As Torture At Camp X-Ray
<snip>

A TERROR suspect freed from Guantanamo Bay has told of cruel and unusual punishment.

Hamed Abderrahman Ahmad, a Spaniard who denies any links with terrorism, said he had to wrap his head in a damp towel to try to muffle loud tapes of Born in the USA.

Mr Ahmad said he was confined to a small cell where the lights were always on and he was forced to listen endlessly to Bruce Springsteen.

"First I spent a month in a cell two metres square that had a roof of sheet iron, with unbearable heat," he said.

"All day they blared patriotic American music. It was Born in the USA. We had to put wet towels on our heads to be able to bear the heat and not hear the music . . .

1. Bruce won't be pleased about that...
he complained about the Repukes using the song in their campaigns...I'm sure he'll have something to say about it being used this way.

Springsteen's horribly overblown greezeball melodramas all the time? I feel pretty tortured myself whenever I hear "Born to Run" on the radio....

24. Assholes. Are they paying Bruce royalties?
First of all, "Born in the USA" is ironic, as any Springsteen fan will tell you. I don't know how people manage NOT to hear the lyrics.

Second, I am quite sure Springsteen would be horrified to know his music was being used to break the wills of our government's captives.

Third, what the hell do they expect that to accomplish? Bruce's music is powerful indeed, but do they really think that after hearing "Boooooooorn in the USA" for the 1000000th time, they'll suddenly start feeling patriotic and spill their guts to protect our country?

What a load of morons,

The Plaid Adder

27. No, but there are rules against playing Yanni
to detainees. Seven international treaty conventions, signed and ratified by all but three nations (Greece, Cyprus and Uzbekistan), have declared the nonconsensual playing of Yanni to be a Crime Against Humanity and punisheable by death.
