Anyone hear really know Firefox well and the "Looking Up whatever address" BS?
This is driving me nutz!!!

I gave permission to FF on my firewall, but I keep getting

that "looking up" message and my computer seems to stall.

Any advice?

Something isn't set up right and I can't figure out what it is...

:grr:

It does the same thing with that pain in the ass "Google Analytics"

6. Click the Start button, then Run.

In the box type cmd and click OK.

A black window will open up. At the prompt in it, type ipconfig /all (make sure you have a space before the "/all" and press ENTER.

What does it have listed for "DNS Servers"?

9. It is a little difficult to copy & paste out of a command window.
Better to just write them down and type them.

13. OK in that Command Prompt window, click the upper left corner .
It should bring up a menu. Select Edit, then Mark. Now you will be able to highlight the entire section of text. Once it is highlighted, click the upper left corner again, select Edit, then Copy. Then paste it into a post here.

14. No. I'm not posting my IP addy in the lounge or anywhere else on DU!!
:P

I already gave it permission from my firewall but this old computer is like a FORD.

Fix Or Repair Daily.

Right now it seems to have stopped messing with me.

Thanks for the help though!! ;)

15. Well since you are behind a firewall you don't have an IP that is reachable.
It's probably 192.168.something.something, right?

18. there is a subnet mask too...

I went into Windows Firewall and removed Firefox from the list of exceptions
and told my firewall to get permission next time FF tries to connect to the net.

I'm waiting to see if it does. So far... nothing.

But as I told you, it isn't listing ANY DNS anything.

All that info is in my Networking folder, I think.

I just got High speed with Verizon with a WiFi connection.

I disabled my dial up modem.

But it's been pretty rocky keeping everything working.

Only had it 2 or 3 days now.

And MS thinks my copy of XP is bogus. It isn't.

This is a used puker.

The license is a volume license.
