I am NOT going to watch American Movie Classics anymore.
I decided to try an experiment.

I watched a movie, that was (their time) 2 hours and 30 minutes.

I timed how many ads they had.
38 fucking minutes of ads!!! :grr:

I wrote an e-mail to AMC complaining.
I get a stock e-mail answer. :argh:

No more fucking AMC for me.
38 fucking minutes of ads is simply pure GREED on thier part.

1. Not even for Mad Men?
I don't give a shit if they run tape loops of dogs barking and babies crying, as long as they keep renewing Mad Men.

7. Mad Men is the best current show on television.
I think AMC started out pretty well in the series department.

2. I blocked them years ago
. . . as soon as they started showing commercials, period. Hard to believe our cable/satellite bills go up all the time and they weren't making enough without going commercial. Do they even have to may much in the way of royalties for showing movies that old?

4. Oh, that was the best one!
That twist where he goes on a rampage for vengence because of the death of someone close to him? Brilliant!

Kind of reminds me of GD-P and that Lieberman thing, now that I think of it.

5. AMC jumped the shark years ago
"Godzilla's Revenge" was never an American Movie Classic, even if they got Orson Welles to dub his voice...

6. When you start showing things like "Smokey and the Bandit III"
You're not really showing "classics" anymore, are you?

I gave up on AMC years ago. Stick to Turner Classic Movies.

8. yep
It's ridiculous, and it's likely to get worse. As ad rates continue to plummet, networks and channels will put more and more ads everywhere they can to try and compensate. :(

9. What's up with their advertising?
Their non-sequiturs linking films on the schedule is farcical.

I.E.: "If you're enjoying Saving Private Ryan, tune in Friday for...

Jeremiah Johnson -- More Wild Men!"

Or, how about... "Schindler's List and American Pie Band Camp... more "campy" goings ons..."

10. Plus they edit out the sex, ultraviolence and obscenities.
Hey I'm PAYING for this! It's CABLE, not the public airwaves! I wanna see the whole unedited movie!

Should clerks at a bookstore start tearing out pages of books I've bought at the checkout line because they think I might be offended at what's been written?

:wtf:

11. commercials
You are right

It seems like lately, not only AMC but every other station has doubled their ads on a commercial break, it is so annoying, I know that is how they make $$, but to have 6minutes of ads??

:hi:

channel (don't remember which)

Theatre Runtime: 154 min (who knows what it's cut to for TV)
