What the HELL was that?

We were just in the hot tub on the back deck when this...thing...streaked across the sky. It was like 100 times bigger than a falling star, shot east to west parallel to the horizon, about 40 degrees above from the horizon. It had a long bright tail. It made no sound. Neither of us has ever seen anything like it.

What was that?

It might burn up before hitting, but while still producing a spectacular light show. Oh so I'd think, though I'm not an astrophysicist.

I did see a UFO once, but I live relatively close to Canaveral, so it might have been an unpublicized launch - though it sure did look as if it went off at a weird angle.

20. The Orionid meteor shower is underway, although it's a bit early in the

evening for that to be visible in North America, if I understand correctly. Still, my bet is on a particularly large meteor...

A couple of years ago (12-15?) I saw an amazing video on CBS.There was a big meteor that crossed the

sky and it was filmed during a sport event.I wouldn't bet on it but I

think it was in Detroit.


Oops.After Googling I found that it was The Peekskill Meteorite October 9, 1992.

It was seen in several states but the footages I saw was from Ohio:

i saw something similar to what you describe, it was the wildest thing I had ever seen.
It had a tail, too, and it had a white and green tail!
It had to have been a comet or meteor/ meteorite....
Don't know the dif!

But at the time, I was walking around my neighborhood, with my snowboots on because it was winter. It was early evening. Neato!
