Not bad, but it doesn't kick the ass of the older stuff, either:

1. Axl's voice is utter crap now.
Did you see the Music Awards from '02?

There ain't shit left in the pipes (or maybe that's all that's there)

3. Exactly...not that bad.
Axl sounded a little James Hetfield-ish to me. Guitars won't make Slash lose any sleep. Overall, the kind of album you play on Rhapsody for free and then forget about it. Just like McCain, Axl doesn't seem to have a "game changer" here.

4. A Philly station played it on the AM show, but I believe it won't get
much more airplay from them - The band was scheduled to play a concert in Philly when they were just getting really big. After 4 hours, their manager phoned and told the station they were not going to play the show.

The station and everyone who bought tickets to see the show were very pissed, and GnR was never asked back. If you call and request their music, you will probably get a 10 minute harangue about what an asshole Axel is.
The new tune was not worth the long wait, IMO - the new AC/DC is much better.

5. I have the new AC/DC CD coming in the next day or two via UPS...
...and have liked what I've heard so far. I wasn't impressed at all with "Stiff Upper Lip" because it really lacked durable songs. "Rock N Roll Train" picks up nicely where some of their stronger, pre-"Stiff Upper Lip" syuff left off.

Axl's pretty much rendered himself irrelevant over the years. There was some buzz when Scott Weiland bailed on Velvet Revolver about a GnR reunion. At this point, that may be what is needed to regain any lasting traction. We shall see.
