Oh, boy. This is a weird one.....
OK, here's the story. My 11-year old son has just shaved off his eyebrows.

That's right, he's shaved off his eyebrows.

He's grabbed my razor tonight and done it. He doesn't know why. Now, he's upset and freaking because he thinks he looks weird. Now, we're going to have to explain this to his school.

My question is.... how long does it take to grow eyebrows back??

1. I accidentally burned mine off a few years ago; they were back within
a couple weeks. So were my eyelashes and the front part of my hair that burned.

7. A couple of weeks? Really?
I have no idea of these things. I told my son it may be a few months.

Thanks for the info.

26. I sure hope it'll be OK; at that age, what seem like little things can be
a crisis!
Do you have a gas oven? Use that as an excuse...that's how I burned mine off. The oven didn't light, and when I opened the door to put the dish in, a fireball totally blew out and fried me.
Wish him well for me, and good luck!

9. Another "it seemed like a good idea at the time" kind of things
He just came out of the shower looking like that.

He's autistic, although not at all severely. He has amazing common sense.

This just puzzled me.

5. I shaved off my eyebrows in college to "look different."
It's a bad idea. The eyebrows keep a lot of debris out of your eyes.

11. Yes, it is getting cold
However, he's going to have to take the hat OFF once he gets to class.

Oy. I wouldn't want to be him when his classmates discover this.

12. You could apply just a little brow liner...
not too much, though, or it will draw attention to the matter (no pun intended).

14. That's the last resort
If the kids at school found THAT out, it might be even WORSE.

16. Yeah... that's what I was thinking...
that's why you have to use it very, very sparingly. Too bad he has to remove his hat in the classroom. Anyway, good luck with it all. :hi:

10. OMFG
Not funny... but

My kid just shaved a chunk out of one about age 8.

Poor guy. :(

But, it WILL be a story that you all remember for many many MANY years and you will all . Get pictures. Even if you have to get them while he sleeps and hide them until he's 25.

13. My wife and I are barely suppressing laughter
If it weren't for his freaking, we'd be ROFL.

But for an 11-year old, this is life-and-death sort of stuff.

19. Oh, I know... I know.
I do feel very sorry for him, it'll be tough with the other kids at school. :( At that age, I would have concocted some fantastic story about how "it happened".

15. Two weeks or so is right
Get pictures... especially with light from below... think Boris Karloff

have him make up a story about his costume for Halloween or something to save face at school... although he might just be a hero

Or maybe some made-up story about how he rescued a squirrel from a blazing fire - "it was so hot....."

20. Believe me, he's sorry he did it already
It took my wife and I a few hours to calm him down - although we have no idea how to deal with it.

Could be a worse thing to deal with.

21. I'm weird because I actually think incidents like this
although a bit off-the-wall, do help kids in the long run. You know, to think about what they are doing and consider the consequences. So maybe it's not larger stuff later. I'm sorry he was so upset. That sucks, I know.

You're so right, it could be a more serious thing to deal with and it's not! :)

22. They'll be completely restored in a few months
This is experience speaking. And don't worry. Tomorrow everyone will ask him if he got a new haircut or something. They will notice something is different but they will not equate it with missing eyebrows.

And this could be the start of a trend. Do not be surprised if every boy in his school does the same thing before the school year is over.

In fact, I wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't told me.

Thanks. I won't ask about your "experience".

25. I Did That When I Was Around Seven
I have no idea why. I was bored one day, went in the bathroom, got my father's razor and just zipped off both of my eyebrows. Boy, was my mother pissed. But don't listen to me, I'm the same kid who had to go to the emergency room for sticking marbles up my nose.
