2. It's a video of this poor fat kid on a rollercoaster with his psycho mother
Who laughs her ass off as he's practically strangled by the harness. And people are all commenting how fucking funny it is.
I just don't get people at times.

3. Just a hint. Someone that can hollar that loud? They're not stranglin'
Oh...please.

I've laughed like that at my kids on thrill rides too.

They've screamed bloody murder on various rides.

My son has actually shrieked "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!"

Yes I've laughed my ass off at them.

Not that it matters but they are both rather thin. Should I have coddled and treated them differently if they had been fat?

And btw, after screaming bloody murder on the first ride...they were nearly always ready to run around and get back on the the ride again.

27. As a mother i would be HORRIFIED to see my kid falling out of the seat.
This was not a normal fear ride reaction. The boy was falling out of the seat. A little compassion to a child who is deathly afraid is not coddling.

4. I agree with you completely
The poor kid is hysterical, and as you said, in genuine fear that he's going to fall out. Even if we, as the viewers, don't think he will, that doesn't negate the fact that he's a child in a panic, AND he says he's in pain. I think the reactions to the video are disgusting.

Oh, and don't forget: it's oh-so-much-more funny because the kid is overweight. :eyes: Never underestimate the depth of cruelty and insensitivity towards the obese in our culture. Even if they're frightened children.

5. Yes. That seems to be the humor behind the "American Carol"
film, too. It's so funny when you are beating up a fat person. :eyes:

9. I keep saying: it's the last culturally acceptable prejudice
It's the last culturally acceptable prejudice, and until more people start speaking out about it, it will never change.

6. Any video that's "funny" because the subject is overweight just isn't.
I find it intriguing that people will openly mock some child. Try doing that to their kid, and they'd lose their fucking minds.

8. Not funny. That kid is in a panic...
and probably rightfully so. He looks as though he is slipping from his straps, and probably was in some pain along will being fearful.

10. Sad.
I find these types of videos quite sickening. Reminds me of the clips on that 'funny' home video show with the most laughs coming from guys getting hit in the testicles, children falling/getting scared, anything with an odd accident....children and adults in actual pain.
We live in a sick society....My heart went out to this child...I almost didn't watch it as I'm so offended by this type of thing....kind of knew what was coming...
But I'm with you.:(

peace~

13. I have just about the sickest and most twisted and dark sense of humor in the world
but I was too shocked at the supposed mother's reaction to laugh. Humor stops at the point where someone is terrified. I was almost thrown out of a ride when the Carnies showed up in Waldwick, so I can relate. All I did was lean down then stand back up at the wrong moment and I was just about propelled off the ride, and had to grab the hand grips to stay on. I panicked a bit, and the friends next to me laughed, I didn't consider them friends for a very long time.

16. That's not a mother; that's a monster
That's the thing I meant to comment on also. The mother's reaction is disgusting. At first I thought, oh, she doesn't really see that he's scared. And then as the video went on and she was looking right at him and it was clear that she was actually laughing at his fear, I was sickened. And then, when it was clear that he was in pain, and might even be in danger of falling out??? I wanted to reach through the monitor and smack her.

17. A simple reaching over and saying
"It will be okay, it will be all over soon" would have done wonders.

I'm glad I have my parents. They truly rock.

21. Not only is this NOT funny
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 12:37 AM by ThomCat
It's even worst that an adult who might be the kid's mom is one of the people laughing. I really don't understand what is so funny about mocking or humiliating anyone for being overweight. Mocking a KID for being overweight is just Evil.

It seems to be a new trend on the internet. A fat kid doing almost anything is funny. In this case he's fat and he's scared. Wow. Hilarious! x(

Oh, and he's in pain. That's an added bonus. Pain is Funny! Yay! :eyes:

I imagine that people would find a video of me hilarious too. A crippled guy walking on crutches, in pain! Ha ha ha! :(

Some people are really sick.

22. I'd never seen it nor heard of it before.
Not even remotely funny.

Maybe if you're also the sort of person who thinks drowning kittens is a fun pasttime.

I seem to remember a thread a while back where someone was extolling the hilarity of the videos where the guy throws a shake or a Coke all over the drive-thru worker at a fast food joint and then drives off. Someone thought that was side-splittingly funny. Maybe that's the type that would like this rollercoaster thing.

23. Something doesn't look right in that video...
Is it really a roller coaster? Why can't you see any track? And what's with the automobiles?

Also, it seems like the audio is either waaay off, or the voices have been dubbed in.

That said, it sure looks like that poor kid was close to being seriously injured if not killed by that ridiculous belt contraption.
I guess some folks just have a sick sense of humor... :(

25. It's a slingshot ride, not a rollercoaster, slings you straight up
then you bungee bounce up and down

something like this...

the video's been around for a few years.
