1. My 1980's US made Peavey (I know you are laughing)
is the best bass I hve played including my Fender Telecaster Bass '70's re-issue.
Beautiful neck, great tone, perfect intonation, comfortable and not too heavy to play for hours.

Oh, yeah It spounds just a little better than a JB, too.

But a Jazz would be my second choice - maybe next year.

Thanks for the post.

Old Mark
(Bass player since 1963)

with Heart Omega cutout and Buckeye Burl top.

They're expensive.

14. Crabby, I played a new Mexican JB about a
month ago and I was really happy with the neck. Whatever they are doing now, they are doing it well.

FWIW, I just play for fun now - hands not working as well as they once did.
Good ta meetcha.

18. the jazz bass neck is fantastic
Years ago when I had a bass custom built for me, I had the luthier model the neck off of a jazz bass. There were other things that I wanted to be different (if I could go back, I would probably just buy a nice JB though - better resale value), but I did think I could improve on that neck.

15. Fender P-Bass...
I am biased though, because I have one and love it. It's purple and I named it. It plays sweet and sounds sweet. I love it.

16. Me too.
But they can get heavy after awhile. I once tried out a Hoffner many years ago. It would feed back through the amp if you weren't careful so I went for a P bass. But I wish I'd gone for the Hoffner when I had the chance.
