OK, is this even legal? A mini rant
I was going through today's snail mail when I noticed TWO envelopes from the county court. One addressed to my husband, and one addressed to me. Apparently both of us are being summoned to Jury Duty for the same period of time.

:wtf:

I have no issue with serving, I will call them to find out the particulars, but it seems rather non-random that both of us would be called to serve.

1. I think it's probably legal...
that being said, the odds seem stacked against it unless you live in Slab City WI (population 120). I would be pissed off too!

2. My dear KitchenWitch!
Could it be...

The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing?

4. Actually, because it is a random draw
it's entirely possible that both of you got drawn by sheer coincidence. It's a fluke, but it can happen. If I use a random number generator, for example, some of the random numbers might end up being the ones next to each other because they're, well, randomly assigned. I don't know how they draw jury duty, but if they're pulling names out of a hat, the possibility is there that it's purely coincidental. Not likely, but possible.

However, it might be easier for one or both of you to get out of it since both of you were drawn at the same time. Hardship and all that.

It's definitely weird.

5. Just don't piss off the judge...
or you might be asked to return, to jury duty, again-- exactly six months and one day later.

I know this from experience.

but yeah, don't piss off the judge. just say you believe in jury nullification.

20. I should hope NOT!
Aren't you suppose to not discuss the case out of court? It would be pretty difficult if jury members were married...

8. The only thing I can see wrong with it is if you both end up in the same jury pool...
for the same case. Nowadays, the selection is mostly randomly chosen by computer, and if you both are to be summoned for the same case, well then one of you may be excused from serving on the jury.

10. I served on a stabbing case once
but that was because I always wanted to serve on a jury. Now you can just email them and you can get excused if your reasons are good enough.

11. It is probably legal, but the jury pool would be tainted here and
rejected if that happened. The state law requires a cross section of voters, we had one panel dismissed and a case mistried because the clerk summonsed only folks with the last name beginning with a "B".

13. maybe that's a good thing. when i went we all sat around for HOURS
and did nothing. we all got to go home early--and that was the end of the jury service.

at least with your husband there you'll have someone to talk to and keep you company.

just ask the defense lawyer if you'll be able to see the guilty bastard before the trial starts. Works every time!

That's the funny thing about chance; something with a 1 in a million shot of happening will actually happen every once in a while.

23. tell them you have to watch the Twinkies....
or better yet, tell them that you don't recognize the authority of the criminal justice system, and that you are the last line of defense protecting America from the impending threat of the one-world government...don't forget to toss in a few fun terms like 'international bankers,' 'bildebergers,' 'pinko intellectuals from harvard,' 'microchip implants,' 'Miami Cubans,' 'chemtrails,' 'common law courts', and 'Area 51'...Ah, fuck it -- instead of saying all that, roll up in there wearing a Ron Paul t-shirt, and people WILL get the message!

One of you, however, can reschedule for a later date. There is the option to do that on the form.
