I learned well the simple lesson of "Death in Yosemite"
Don't die in Yosemite. :scared:

And moreover, don't read "Death in Yosemite" while camping in Yosemite. :scared: :scared:

3. Kinda like...
...reading about bear attacks before hiking in Glacier N.P.

Don't. Do. It.

5. Interestingly, there has never been a fatal bear attack in Yosemite
Unfortunately, there are 900 other ways to die. :scared:

10. Most popular:
Car crashes, falls while hiking, falls while rock climbing, and drowning.

All good for 100-150 deaths.

4. While in the Grand Canyon we discovered "Death in the Canyon".
We bought Death in "Yellowstone" the first day we got there. I did not know there was a "Death in Yosemite", but we will get it on our next visit.

6. Can't be as bad as "Death in Fiesta, Texas"
SAN ANTONIO - The Bexar County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death of skeletal human remains discovered Wednesday on the grounds of Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Police say the remains were found at the northwest corner inside the grounds, right at the bottom of a rock wall. Some articles of clothing were also found close to the remains.

A Six Flags officials told News 4 that the remains were found on park property in an area off-limits to guests and employees because of the danger of falling rock.

Police say the remains were not anywhere near the public area and appeared to have been there for six to 12 months.

7. Long ago, Mr GoG and a buddy were camping in Yosemite...
and encountered a bear while they were in their tent. They couldn't tell what kind, because they could only see it via moonlight. Having partaken of mind-altering substances, they found the situation rather absurd, and started laughing. The bear left.

About a week later, they read about a couple of young women who were mauled by a grizzly in that same area.

So maybe a good rule of thumb is, "If you think you're about to die in Yosemite, laugh."
