I'm (sorta) back online....
I have power at work now, but not at home and it could be as much as a week longer due to the damage.

Excuse me, while I bask in AC and hot coffee....

1. Hey there!
Good to hear from you. Gosh it sounds just awful down there..yet the situation seems to get little attention from the media..I've heard a little bit on the Weather Channel but not much else..
Maybe you should post an update in GD..It would be good for those ninnies to focus on some REAL news for awhile instead of rumors...
BTW..I'm assuming your partner is okay? I remember you posting you hadn't heard from him....

2. Hey, TNS....
I've not been to GD since before the storm, but my guess is that if I posted something NOT related to Palin I'd be on the receiving end of many flamethrowers... And I'm not up for that just yet.

Yeah, my partner was OK- it was just the loss of many mobile phone towers that made wireless communication next to impossible. We're back in the house, with a generator and a couple of small window units and some fans. The house is a tolerable temperature, but I'm burning up $40 per day in gasoline and still can't cook anything (I am utterly SICK of Chinese take-out). And tensions are high, of course... I'm trying to keep things in proper perspective, but it gets harder every day...

I'll post the link to some pictures taken around the area when I get a moment. Right now, I have a lot of equipment to get back up and running.

5. Hey!!
Brian Williams did a piece a couple nights ago about how the rest of Louisiana and the gulf coast had been abandoned in the media since the hurricane spared NOLA.

I'm glad you get a break from no power and no a/c. The longest I've gone without power and heat was during an ice storm. 11 days. 3 of those days we had no water. My house had all electric appliances and no fireplace. Lelapin was in first grade then...

6. I now kind of understand how the Mississippi coast felt post Katrina...
They got absolutely no coverage, but since Gov. Barbour is a Repuke, at least they got an OK share of the relief funds (as far as I know, anyway- I could be wrong).
