I have been working in what they call "non-traditional" fields (as in, not a lot of women in my workplace) for about 20 years. I love it, and have had very little difficulty there, due to the fact that I have the right attitude and the best of coworkers. I very rarely even think about the fact that I am the only female power plant operator where I work--only if someone points it out.

There is really no necessity for a battle of the sexes, nor should there be a "blending" where everyone feels like they need to have attributes assigned to the other sex that are alien to what we've been taught. I know guys that can cook circles around me (no big accomplishment there) and I can do mechanical stuff that many men can't do. It all works out.

Do what you want, be what you want to be, and I will tell you a fart joke in the morning and lend you my Maxim magazine! (and my New Yorker, and Vanity Fair...etc.) It's all good.
