2. Shepherd mix. They're the smartest, sweetest dogs I've ever had.
I've had three of them, one was part wolf, and they made fantastic companions.

26. We have a shepherd mix named Buddy. Here he is with my kids...
He is the most gentle dog -- he loves everyone (people and dogs) and he is amazing with the kids. We got him from our local shelter...

3. Wouldn't he be called a Goldenoodle? or Pootriever?
I love my Border Heeler (Border Collie Blue Heeler mix.)
I do love standard poodles having grown up with them from when I was three to eighteen years old.
Someday, I would love to have a Borderoodle or Blue Heeloodle. ;)
Do you have a photo of Gordon?
Here's Sally, getting ready to eat her hat-

Goldendoodle is just my fave. My last dog was a great dog and a Golden Retriever mixed with 3 Asian breeds and miniature Schnauzer. Not one of the well known mixes, but one I'd repeat, since you can't be a better dog IMO.

7. I have a doodle as well
I feel funny calling her a "golden" doodle because she's actually black. Sweet, sweet disposition. I love golden retrievers too -- have one of those as well. They are great dogs with very sweet dispositions. How can you not love that?

6. Golden Retriever and Great Pyrenees...
our neighbor owned him and he was the sweetest, albeit biggest, dog I have ever known. Looked like a giant golden and was an excellent burglar deterrent. He use to come to the fence and hug my husband (literally get up on his hind legs and hug him) every day.

19. Wow, I didn't see your post....
I had one of those. best dog ever. He used to travel the neighborhood every morning, greeting everyone and see the kids off to school. Then he would come home and chill on the porch. Funny dog too, had some hilarious tricks he would do.

Who knows for sure? But whatever, he is my favorite breed combination. He's always been a good pup. Albeit spoiled terribly rotten now. :)

12. Whatever the hell my dog is.
He looks like he's part dachshund, part whippet/italian greyhound, part viszla.

Whatever he is, the result is that he looks exactly like Santa's Little Helper. :D

Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 08:01 AM by old mark
His name is Peanut.
He is very smart, and has the goofiness of the Danes, and he is a very sweet natured dog.
But he is a bedhog.

I have had 3 dogs, all mixed breeds, and I loved tham all.

21. The Great Bull
I had a wonderful Great Dane/Pit Bull mix, one of the best dogs I ever had. A large dog, about one hundred and ten pounds, he looked like a giant pit bull, or as friends said, a neanderthal dog. Despite his looks, he was one of the most intelligent and well tempered dogs out there.

Of course people freaked when they saw him, though I did have one fellow offer me a few hundred bucks for him, somebody who would be fighting him. Of course I turned him down.

Most of my dogs have been mixed breeds, dogs that wander into my life, show up on my doorstep, etc. Frankly I think that mixed breed dogs are better dogs than most pure breeds. I've seen too many pure bred dogs who were bred too close and wind up being skittish, nervous, vicious, etc.

25. Golden Pyrenees.
My last dog was one and she was just amazing. She was loving but independent and rather aloof and territorial, she had some chow in there too. She was sporty and outdoorsy loved to hike and I felt very safe with her. Plus she was just gorgeous and BIG, 100lbs. I want another one.

My dog now is a real mutt, I can't even tell what breeds she may be.

She kinda looks like a golden spitz or a huge POM; she's just 40-45lbs, her ears stick straight up, she has golden fur and a fluffy tail and is a fierce little hunter and just so incredibly affectionate with me but very shy with others. And she has never run out of the yard or down the street and hardly ever barks, she's quiet. And she doesn't have that guarding instinct either but she's great in the woods with me, she's very athletic and loves to go for long hikes and is so very cute and lovable.

I got her from a shelter. They said she would be a large dog which to me meant 80-100lbs. It's been an adjustment getting used to her size.
