I'm getting so tired of getting turned down for jobs. It would be nice to just once send a nice "Fuck You" letter, or a big box of dog shit to the bastards that pass me over.

Fuck looking for work.

7. Still haven't landed that "real job".
So, I decided, screw it, I'm gonna sell my house and retire.

10. Same here. I'm happily underemployed, have been for years. I looked and looked

for a "real job" in the 90's. Silly me, I thought there was still a chance I could get one. Age was against me, as well as a very crowded field.

I feel the OP's pain. I hope you find something you like.

4. No--my brother was once turned down for a job, but the interviewer liked him
and recommended him to a friend.

5. This
I hate the Internet meme 'this' but, 'this' is so apt right here

Never Burn Your Bridges in Your Professional Life

Go out with class, otherwise hiring managers might talk about "that fucking asshole" and before you know it, you're blacklisted in the entire area.

It's just not worth it.

12. Another vote for 'what Lydia said.'
I'm in a position to screen resumes and interview potential employees. Hiring in our department, however, is often a collective decision.

It's not a rare thing to have a different candidate favoured by each of three decision makers. And it's also not rare to have the candidate back out for a better offer, or fail to perform as hoped within the first couple of weeks. I've quite gleefully phoned up my favourite candidate and asked their availability and interest in a position for which they thought they were declined.

I have a friend who wanted to hire a woman at firm A, but was unable to do so for bullshit reasons related to a bigotted, idiot of a boss. Not surprisingly she left that firm and went over to firm B, where she had the extreme delight of interviewing the same candidate for a similar position. This time she got the job!

I can't even begin to tell you the number of very good reasons not to burn bridges in a professional environment.

6. Only if you never want to work in that particular arena/area again.
Then, go for it.

9. Here's an idea. If you got to the point of an interview, send them a thank you note.

11. I would also add that you might want to ask for constructive
criticism in your thank you note. Maybe you are doing something wrong or not doing soemthing you should be. Someone might take the time to tell you, or be impressed that you are open to this sort of self improvement.
