"Oh No!" Reviews of The Dark Knight on Fandango: A Real Fundie Fest
Some are real gems. To whit:

This movie stinks!
The audio engineer should be fired!
The movie is way too long!
What happened to the Joker? Did he die or not?
Heath ledger acted like a homosexual wierdo.
Save your money. Go see something good!

"Two Thumbs Down!"

-------------------------------------------

My husband and I took our 10 year old grandson who has always idolized Batman. We also took our 13 year old grandson. The amount and type of violence in that movie was inexcusable. It is no wonder with trash like that being shown to our young people that the world is full of so much violence.

-------------------------------------------

Absolutely, one of the darkest movies that I've ever seen. Parents, please do not take your children to see this movie.

The sriters/director/producers have destroyed a "brand" that millions grew up with. A shame, disgrace and waste of money.

The fact that is the highest grossing movie of the summer does not speak well of the morals of our nation.

1. Without reading the link, I would say it's obvious the parents and others
have never read any of Frank Miller's work ;)

4. This film wasn't based on any Frank Miller work.
Influenced, maybe, maybe not, but it was written by John and Chris Nolan.

Just saying...

7. Okay, I thought it had been based on the graphic novel.
Shows how much I pay attention to entertainment news ;)

However, I still stand by the idea that if any of those "reviewers" had ever read any of Miller's work, they would never have taken their children. Probably a lot of them wouldn't have gone as adults if they're that offended by it.

8. They are.
Batman Begins was heavily influenced by Miller's Year One and Sale & Loeb's Long Halloween (my personal fav.). Dark Knight also draws heavily from Long Halloween as well as The Killing Joke and The Dark Knight Returns.

6. Iconic but also of the moment
the ppl who took kids must have been sleeping in the trees for a decade or so. otherwise how would they not know about the aesthetic violence that all action and/or adventure movies employ.

this was a great movie, to me, even tho I'm not a great batman movies fan, because of the amorality of the Joker - the inability to explain him away, and to mock explanation - and the actual loss of a character. Rachel died, for all we know. This is NEVER done in Hweird mainstream movies. This is the best director, in terms of a sophistication in viewing the human condition, that any Batman movie has had.

Memento was another iconic movie that mocked our sense of reality.

but whatever.
