Ten Quivering Questions for Tonight
1. Has your driver's license or government ID card ever expired because you forgot to check the date until it was too late?

2. Is your silverware all the same pattern, or is it different patterns?

3. Motor vehicle owners only: How often do you change your oil?
3a. Non-motor vehicle owners only: You must travel five blocks. You can choose to walk, ride a bicycle, or take the electric bus. Which one would you do?

4. You're getting a new cat. You have the choice of a shorthair cat or a longhair cat of equally high quality. There is someone standing next to you who will take the cat you don't pick. Which cat goes home with you?

5. Which is the worse test question: "of these four things, which is right" or "of these four things, which is wrong"?

6. You can have any one band (read "band or singer") sent to Gitmo. Who goes?

7. What color is your roof?

8. How many televisions do you own?

9. Your favorite fruit?

10. A three-part question: If you could, which class (a) would you like to take over again, (b) did you take and wish you hadn't and (c) didn't take but would if you could?

2. ten tittilating answers to ten quivering questions
1. Has your driver's license or government ID card ever expired because you forgot to check the date until it was too late?

Nope.

2. Is your silverware all the same pattern, or is it different patterns?

We have one full set that matches and a bunch of orphans.

3. Motor vehicle owners only: How often do you change your oil?
3a. Non-motor vehicle owners only: You must travel five blocks. You can choose to walk, ride a bicycle, or take the electric bus. Which one would you do?

There are low quality cats?

Of these four things which is right, from a purely instructional design perspective, because it teaches the wrong answers.

Red

8. How many televisions do you own?

such as missing tails on non-Manxes, one ear missing, three legs, that kind of thing.

5. My answers
<<1. Has your driver's license or government ID card ever expired because you forgot to check the date until it was too late?>>

Yes, four years ago. The only reason I noticed was that a cop pulled me over for a broken taillight, and when he asked to see my license....

<<2. Is your silverware all the same pattern, or is it different patterns?>>

Most of my silverware was obtained at various gas stations during promotional campaigns held in the 1970s.

<<3. Motor vehicle owners only: How often do you change your oil?>>

About every 3,000 miles.

<<4. You're getting a new cat. You have the choice of a shorthair cat or a longhair cat of equally high quality. There is someone standing next to you who will take the cat you don't pick. Which cat goes home with you?>>

The longhair. Sure, they'll get hair all over my clothes, furniture and carpeting, but who cares when they're that much fun to pet?

<<5. Which is the worse test question: "of these four things, which is right" or "of these four things, which is wrong"?>>

"Which is right?"

<<6. You can have any one band (read "band or singer") sent to Gitmo. Who goes?>>

Billy Joel.

<<7. What color is your roof?>>

Never seen it. I live in a three-story apartment building.

<<8. How many televisions do you own?>>

One. That's quite enough, thank you!

<<9. Your favorite fruit?>>

Frank-N-Furter. (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

OK, seriously: oranges.

<<10. A three-part question: If you could, which class (a) would you like to take over again, (b) did you take and wish you hadn't and (c) didn't take but would if you could?>>

I try not to think back to my years as a product of the American educational system. They sucked.

8. Wow, hard questions!
1) Yes. My provisional driver's license expired for precisely that reason.

2) My silverware is mostly scrounged, so I don't think I have more than four pieces that are any one pattern.

3a) Depending on how I was feeling, what the weather was like, and how much money I had, I'd either walk or take the bus. I frequently walk five blocks or more to get somewhere, but if I'm not feeling well, the weather is bad (and/or the footing is uncertain due to ice), or I'm in a hurry, I'd take the bus...*unless* I didn't have the bus fare.

4) I'm not biased between short- or longhaired cats, so it would depend on the cat in question. If the shorthaired cat were the kind of cat I would want (friendly, cuddly, social, and cat-friendly), or if I bonded to it better, I'd take the shorthair. Vice versa with the longhair.

5) To me, "Which of these four things is wrong?" is the worse test question.

6) I'm up for sending Toby Keith or maybe Neil Young to Gitmo.

7) My roof is black, regular-type shingles.

8) Zero.

9) Sweet cherries, either red or yellow. Mmmm!

10a) I'd like to re-take Grade X computers, preferably with a better teacher this time.
10b) I never took a course I wished I hadn't, unless it was one of my compulsory courses, in which case that would probably be 18th C. and Restoration Literature.
10c) I'd probably go back and take Gr. XII math so I'd have a shot at getting into a Computer Science course somewhere.

9. My answers
1. Has your driver's license or government ID card ever expired because you forgot to check the date until it was too late?

Not because I forgot to check the date. I had to work every day for the two weeks before it expired and couldn't get down there to renew it.

2. Is your silverware all the same pattern, or is it different patterns?

All the same -- a nice set from Target. The handles are clear with a snow-like pattern inside.

3. Motor vehicle owners only: How often do you change your oil?
3a. Non-motor vehicle owners only: You must travel five blocks. You can choose to walk, ride a bicycle, or take the electric bus. Which one would you do?

One of my male friends changes it for me every 4,000 to 5,000 miles. I've always heard that 3,000 is better, but he's a mechanic and I trust him and it runs great.

4. You're getting a new cat. You have the choice of a shorthair cat or a longhair cat of equally high quality. There is someone standing next to you who will take the cat you don't pick. Which cat goes home with you?

The shorthair -- I have a small apartment and I vacuum every other day as it is. :-)

5. Which is the worse test question: "of these four things, which is right" or "of these four things, which is wrong"?

All non-essay test questions are equally horrible.

6. You can have any one band (read "band or singer") sent to Gitmo. Who goes?

Michael Jackson.

7. What color is your roof?

A light tan color.

8. How many televisions do you own?

ZERO. I will never again allow a television in my home.

9. Your favorite fruit?

Oranges.

10. A three-part question: If you could, which class (a) would you like to take over again, (b) did you take and wish you hadn't and (c) didn't take but would if you could?

I would like to take Biomedical Ethics over again. I wish I hadn't taken Cal B. I didn't take Screenwriting but wish I had.

1. Has your driver's license or government ID card ever expired because you forgot to check the date until it was too late?

No, but I've had a couple of close calls. When I renewed my DL in August, I found that I still hadn't changed the address from when I had moved halfway across the state 6 years ago.

2. Is your silverware all the same pattern, or is it different patterns?

Different patterns (Probably 3 or 4)

3. Motor vehicle owners only: How often do you change your oil?
3a. Non-motor vehicle owners only: You must travel five blocks. You can choose to walk, ride a bicycle, or take the electric bus. Which one would you do?

Usually between 2500 and 3000 miles.

4. You're getting a new cat. You have the choice of a shorthair cat or a longhair cat of equally high quality. There is someone standing next to you who will take the cat you don't pick. Which cat goes home with you?

The shorthair. I'm a slacker when it comes to brushing.

5. Which is the worse test question: "of these four things, which is right" or "of these four things, which is wrong"?

The first one is harder for me. Can't really explain why, except that I'm better at picking out wrongs, so it would be quicker for me to pick the wrong one, instead of having to pick three wrong ones.

6. You can have any one band (read "band or singer") sent to Gitmo. Who goes?

The Nuge.

7. What color is your roof?

I think it's covered with rocks. Probably black underneath.

8. How many televisions do you own?

Two, and they're almost always off.

9. Your favorite fruit?

Cherry, I guess.

10. A three-part question: If you could, which class (a) would you like to take over again, (b) did you take and wish you hadn't and (c) didn't take but would if you could?

s. My second computer science class, 161. I think I missed too many classes because I liked sleep too much and really missed out on something important, because I can't program worth a shit.

b. Linear Algebra. I think it destroyed my ability to do math.

c. Didn't stick with chorus after high school. Also wish I had taken social sciences more seriously.
