I always hate it when I finish a good book.
Because I want there to be more. Wahhhh.

And now I have to figure out what to read next... got any recs for me? Hmmm dear lounge? I like Fantasy mostly (Lord of the Rings being my most favorite book evah). And the book I just finished was The Blue Sword, which I really liked. http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sword-Robin-McKinley/dp/0441068804/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216584598&sr=8-2

I need something new though, because before The Blue Sword I was a romance novel kick. Which has gotten me mocked by mother, brother, SIL, and my mom's best friend.

1. Lavinia
http://www.ursulakleguin.com/Index-Lavinia.html

If you like fantasy, perhaps you'd like something based on ancient mythologies, Lavinia is a novelization of the second part of Virgil's Aeneid but from the character Lavinia's perspective.

9. I know that feeling well
There's a bit of a letdown, like, "Okay, now what?" I want to start reading it all over, but it's too soon.

I don't think you'd enjoy the stuff I read, though.

Besides it's books! I loves me some books. One day, when I grow up, I want to have a really honest to goodness library. With built it shelves, a giant comfy chair, all that good stuff. :7

22. Well...
Right now, I'm reading "Brassey's Air Combat Reader" — stories of combat pilots from WW I through Gulf War I.

About a third of my library is on airplanes and WW II, or both. Another third is baseball, and the rest is Other Stuff.

The only book I have that you might like is "If I Ever Get Back" by Darryl Brock. He's a history buff and a devoteé of anachronistic baseball, and this book combines those. The protagonist passes out drunk at an Amtrak station in the '80s and wakes up at a railroad station in 1868 and gets on a train with the Cincinnati Red Stockings. They kind of adopt him, and there follows historic intrigue (the Fenians are a big part of it) and romance in a style I'd thought a man incapable of writing.

Oh, and baseball — without gloves and with underhand pitching, and with lots of gambling. But it's not all baseball.

I'm not actually in possession of that book right now, though. I lent it to a friend like two years ago, and... well, ahem.

He loves WWII stuff. He's an uber nerd about it too.

And I hear you on the "borrowing" thing.. the only person who can borrow books from me is my SIL.

All the world building of LOTR, but much darker. It's brilliant.

Someday I will.. although I'm a bit put off by the idea of killing off main characters and bring in new ones, I get so attached sometimes. :(

15. That could be a problem then.
The series has an ensemble cast, not primary protagonists, but some very sympathetic figures do bite it. It's definitely not traditional high fantasy where you know the good guys will all come through relatively unscathed and the bad guys are all toast, because there aren't clear cut good guys and bad guys, and nobody's safe.

Well, Tyrion's probably safe, because he's the author's favorite.

36. Those are wonderful
My only problem is that they literally do have a cast of thousands, and I've been reading them as they come out. During the several years between books, I tend to forget who is who, so have to go back and reread to refresh my memory. Martin is finishing the last volume now, so you wouldn't have that difficulty.

I'll just say that if Cersei - the villain you love to hate - gets off scot free, I'll be really ticked.

11. The Mists of Avalon
A different take on Arthurian legend, The Mists of Avalon is empowering for women. http://www.amazon.com/Mists-Avalon-Marion-Zimmer-Bradley/dp/0345350499/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216586049&sr=1-2

I feel the same way about books, sometimes I even read slower to make it last!

Huh, huh? I could harass the librarians here, but I don't like any of them. Isn't that horrible? I live three blocks from the library, and I don't like any of the librarians. :o

Now, recommend or I won't buy. :P

21. I don't read fantasy, so I cannot recommend myself.
But going on what my customers like, and what they buy?

Piers Anthony, David Eddings, & Terry Brooks have a following and sell pretty well.

and if you liked Mists of Avalon (which I loved), I have about 5 or 6 others by her...
