Swimmers-quite the interesting group
For the last 5 weeks I have been hitting the pool at the Y every morning about 5AM. I have developed my own workout of course but observing this set of people is very interesting.

There I have encountered the swimming society. Truly amazing. They have a whole workout written up (their "Warm up" is 6 lengths of the pool) and every morning there they are just churning it out. Lap after lap after lap. The dedication and drive is just amazing.

BUT the most incredible part of the whole thing, for me, is more a logistical problem.

Aside from the difficulty of driving with my scuba fins on there is the problem of lugging THIS THING* around

and the looks from the front desk guy are NOT NECESSARY :grr:

*due to time limitations I leave it inflated between sessions (the others apparently don't at least from what I have seen before, and after, I get in the pool  )

3. You have inspired me. Wouldn't it be great to go to the pool in the morning to do some drinking...
and laying around from 5-8 before heading off to work?

4. True story
A friend told me about this old guy who went to his gym

The old guy had a heart attack and the doctor told him he needed to get more excercise. So every morning the guy got up and went to the local track to walk. In the winter he joined the gym that my buddy worked at.

One morning someone saw the old guy passed out in his car in the parking lot. EMTs were called and as you can imagine everyone was greatly concerned about him. The old guy had gone out of his way to make sure people knew he was there.

Well the EMTs started packing up to leave and my buddy asked them "What about ___ (the old guy)?" The EMT laughed "He's just had too much"

Turns out the old guy wasn't walking at the high school track and everyone realized that they had never seen him actually doing anything at the gym.

The old guy had decided that if he was going to go soon he was going to have a "Good time" while he could. When the weather was warm he went and parked at the high school and drank Vodka. In the winter he would sit in his car at the gym and do the same-he came inside to get warm every once in a while. The old guy just wanted to get hammered.

True Story.

Similiar story about someone's granddad who passed away. As they were going through his house they kept finding pints of vodka and gin and peanut butter everywhere-behind the couch/IN cut out behind pictures/etc. The guy had been drinking HEAVY for years and masking it with peanut butter. My friend had always wondered why granddad always smelled of Jif.
